Corner Cafe Newton — Restaurant in Newton

Another businessman who is "smarter" than anyone else. I have 0 tolerance for retail places that don't accept credit/debit cards these days (especially one in the middle of Newton center) worse, there is no sign on the door, just a small one on the register. I had just left the gym and grabbed a bottle of water and was drinking it while I ordered my breakfast. I took out my card to pay and was told "cash only" I was told there was a bank down the block and I went out to spend 3 bucks to get cash for a 6 dollar breakfast. I never found the bank of Boston and went all the way around the block and spotted a citizens bank so I went there for cash. When I returned to the restaurant, a little annoyed, I said that they should probably make some bigger signs that say cash only since a lot of people don't carry cash these days. The owner (I think) came from around back and said the credit card companies charge him too much. I assured him the charge was nothing compared to the atm fee and inconvenience it caused me and he shrugged his shoulders. I then paid for my water and coffee (which had been poured already) and reminded him that the restaurant was empty and he should probably come up with ways to being more people in, not drive them away. These business owners trying to save themselves a few cents are losing lots of dollars in the process. I know I'm not the only who doesn't return to cash...

Met the owner of this pretty cool corner establishment at 7:00 in the morning when nobody else was open. Friendly staff, clean environment, and wonderful tasting food. It is great to see a small business thriving in this economy so I went out of my way to visit this store and glad I did. The gentleman that owns the place met me with a smile and we talked all the while he was making breakfast for me. Make sure that you take time out of your busy schedule to support the small business owner as they strive against an economy and regulatory environment that doesn't lend to the small guy. Besides that, you won't find better food and better service at a chain restaurant like you will here at the Corner...

Newton Breakfast Gem! It was our first time ordering and picking up here. The Egg Bowl was fun to try and it did NOT disappoint. I got the "Monday Morning" and now want to get it Tuesday-Friday too! The portion size is great, the egg whites were fresh & fluffy, the tater tots crispy and the red onion & sausage adds a great pop of flavor. The owner suggested cheddar over american cheese and I agree with him! The service was so friendly and the inside of the cafe was sparkling clean. Can't wait to try a lunch...
