Read moreThey buy reviews and specifically “5 star reviews” from their customers. Went in today to order and after I told they cashier what I wanted I was asked “would you like a drink with that” I declined and he said “it’s free, you don’t want a free drink?”. I said “alright, sure” and he said proceeded to tell me how I had to leave them a 5 star review by scanning the QR code and once I did that I needed to show him and he’d give me a drink. He specifically mentioned it had to be all 5 stars to get the drink and they were checking too.
They wanted me to leave the review BEFORE I even got the food and the guy made sure to tell me his name multiple times as if he wanted some sort of good employee review. They rest of the crew were also in on it as people were coming out to check reviews and other’s were also telling customers the same thing. They were definitely told to do this by owners and management. They were also giving free milkshakes for 5 star google reviews. The line was getting so long because they were adamant on having those reviews left while people stood there. So much for 5 star customer service.
I didn’t end up doing the review but noticed that I ordered, waited, and got my food all before the next person’s order taking was even completed because they were waiting on her review. The people behind her in line seemed a little annoyed and it continued this way. I don’t mind a business encouraging people to leave an honest review, keyword: honest, for something in return but to buy specifically 5 star reviews, check to make sure they’re 5 stars, hold up your customers to buy these reviews, and want the reviews before your customers even try to damn food (so you don’t even know what you’re reviewing)?! That’s absurd.
Ironically, my food this time was the worst it’s ever been. Probably because they’re focused on buying reviews and making it LOOK like they’re a great business making great food instead of BEING a great business that makes great food. Let your customers leave honest feedback unless you don’t have faith it’ll look as good...
Read moreIncredible experience. I have had Dave's previously when I visited San Diego last summer and since then I have been waiting eagerly for it to arrive here in Massachusetts.
First, of all the staff was incredibly friendly and the customer service was top tier, despite the number of customers they were serving, which is really commendable.
The food was as good as I remember from San Diego. I had 2 sliders (medium and hot), and my wife had a slider and tender (both medium). The chicken was insanely juicy and flavorful, the breading was crispy but light at the same time. The bun was fresh and very soft with a hint of sweetness. The crinkle cut fries were really crispy.
The spice level in the medium slider was perfect. The hot slider, while not insanely spicy for my taste, seemed to hit the point where the spice took away from the flavor so the medium was the perfect balance for us. Plus the sauce, slaw and pickles cut through the spice very well and provide some contrasting crunch which I really liked. The medium tender by itself, however, did have a little bit of a late burn without any of the extra ingredients in the slider. I will definitely try the hottest level at some point, I just didnt want to ruin my meal the first time.
My only 2 (minor) criticisms would be the amount of cheese on the fries. Even though they were delicious, I wish there was a little more cheese. And secondly, since the tenders are also what are used in the sliders, the construction of the sandwich made it a little difficult to eat (especially in my car). Some bites had a lot of chicken while others had a little less. I remedied that in my second slider by breaking off the tail end of the tender and re-distributing the chicken myself which worked well enough.
Side note: they gave us little shot glasses while we were in line with Massachusetts state on them which...
