Recently went to Paddy's Pub for lunch with my wife after she had been there with a friend and loved her experience there. And while it wasn't warm enough outside for us to sit on their terrace upstairs, we did however have a very enjoyable meal sitting at the bar.
We went on a fairly quiet Monday. The Bruins were on TV and sitting at the bar was the logical choice for me. We ordered up a couple of craft beers and peruse through their pretty extensive and yet very enticing menu which also includes an entire page of lunch specials. I decided to get some help from the friendly person behind the bar and eventually settled on their Michaela's buffalo chicken cobb salad ($12.95) which featured some grilled buffalo chicken, hard boiled egg, crumbled bleu cheese, guacamole, salsa and tortilla strips with mixed greens. This giant salad was great, tasted very fresh and while it made for a slightly expensive lunch, it was well worth it and very filling. The wife got their Montreal burger ($10.50) which she devoured as well and which was a burger featuring some Montreal seasoning, bacon and cheddar cheese.
Not in the mood for a salad or burger? You can get a lot of other things. They have classic pub fare here such as chicken pot pie ($9.95), fish & chips ($14.25), and even pizzas which come in individual sizes ($9.95) or large sizes ($14.95). You can also get combos where you can mix a half a sandwich with a soup or salad, and they also have all kinds of classic appetizers like wings, nachos, etc. But where Paddy's shines is with the quality of the food they churn out. While most bars are mediocre of average at best, they clearly put a lot of effort forth in their food and have built up quite a following of regulars there. And I don't blame the regulars.
On top of that, they also have a great wine and craft beer list, the latter which rotates based on seasonality and of course a full bar to top that off. With it's friendly, cozy atmosphere and the wooden interior, the place's atmosphere is comfortable, inviting and fun. It does get busy in there, especially since they're very involved with the local community.
Lastly, the location is fantastic. It's adjacent to West Newton Square, just a hundred yards from 90 and there's a good amount of street parking in that area, along with a public lot across the street. Just make sure you have quarters, and...
Read moreI’m in awe that after I spotted a drain fly larvae in my food, even told the manager there where it was on the plate after she refused to look at it, that she had the audacity to tell me it was a piece of “cheese” when we asked why she hadn’t cleared the whole bill at the end. It wasn’t like I found a piece of plastic. I also had a mouth full of coleslaw as I looked down at my other half of the sandwich and saw a larvae wiggling from it to the caramelized onion on the plate. It was there. My boyfriend wouldn’t have eaten his food had he not been so hungry and almost done with it. He saw it too and isn’t the type to complain about stuff. I don’t know if she has ever found a worm in her food. Maybe she’s eaten the finest quality food her entire life I don’t know. It’s very traumatic and it’s going to take a while for me to trust take out again. The thought of potentially eating many more and not knowing is not sitting well with me. It was very very invalidating to hear that she said that after. When she had no idea if I had taken a video or not. And I would have, had there not been a mother and daughter next to me that I didn’t want to scare or disgust. But after having told her where the worm was, wasting my dinner, being invalidated in that manner, maybe I should have made a scene. Maybe then we could’ve been taken seriously. Always take videos or pictures of your food even if you make a scene cause the manager may try to convince you—you didn’t see it (; and...

I had the pleasure of trying their bacon cheeseburger, and it was a delightful experience. The burger was cooked to perfection, with a juicy, flavorful patty that harmonized wonderfully with the crispy bacon and melted cheese. Every bite was a taste of heaven!
The sweet potato fries were a standout side dish. They were crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right, creating a delightful contrast with the savory burger.
And the fried pickles - oh, what a treat! They were crunchy, tangy, and addictively delicious, with just the right amount of breading to not overpower the pickle itself.
The staff at Paddy’s deserves a special mention for their warm and welcoming service. They were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience.
In summary, Paddy’s Public House is a culinary treasure in Newton. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic pub meal or looking to enjoy a casual drink with friends, this place will not disappoint. Highly recommended for an authentic and satisfying...
