Food less than par Hb steak on the bar tough and not flavored-what happened to the spaghetti that used to be on the bar? And the steak that used to be on the bar? Yeast rolls are hard, flat & looks as though they don't even bake those in house any longer same goes for the cinnamon rolls- it is like they removed the center from the roll and it's tough and taste old-bring the original rolls both bread & cinnamon back please! Idk what's happened to the steak but it's a waste of money that's a fact So we thought we’d try again-order from menu this time Well I remember that the ribeye steak used to be served on a hamburger roll-Welp not anyone🤬 Served On Texas toast now that was grilled and yet oh so dry So not likening the steer anymore Bring it back to a better management team please!

I have lots of memories here. Been coming here for 30 years. American comfort food, buffet style. The buffet is consistent, it does lack variety but it’s good. Breakfast buffet on weekends. Waitresses are very nice and you don’t run out of drink. Very prompt. I recommend Western Steer. Edit; we just had lunch here today, and it was excellent. We had Billie as our waitress and she was very prompt. We had fresh drinks before we had to ask. Great service. Just had lunch here today and we got the best waitress once again “Billie”. Great service great food. Fried green tomatoes on the breakfast bar. Delicious. The buffet is not open. But you can order from the menu. Food is still great! Edit. They have a drive thru window now. Still great food.

Here around 4:20 for buffet, disappointed in the food. Rost beef dryed out, bbq chicken legs over cooked, corn almost raw not sure they cooked the corn. Mashed potatoes like cement. Salad was good. Desert; apple cobbler no flavor, lemon cake dry and crumbly, browies baked to point of tasting burnt. Staff was really greart. Atmosphere loud and noisy but that was from group of people that must been celebrating. Suggest the western steer owners take a trip to Spruce Pine, Nc western sizzler if they want to serve good food and really profit or send cooks to school. Can not recomend this one.

I went to eat with my family 10/24/2024 and the food was nasty no flavor the bar was full of what looked to be old food. I made a plate with cubed steak rice and gravy with some rolls the cubed steak tasted as of it had been cooked with the liver and the rice was way over cooked so I didn't eat that plate went back and got hamburger steak and mashed potato's. The first bite of the hamburger steak and a hair was in it . I asked for the manager and she was polite but did nothing to compensate at all. $90+ and all I got was thank you I will take it off thr bar. I am a kitchen manager at a buffet restaurant and I told her that and that I understand that sometimes things happen and how was she going to compensate me she simply shrugged her shoulders and said thanks again I'm going to go take it off the bar and she never returned to my table never so I'm out over $90 and still hungry at this point. This is not the way to do business and keep guest happy. The manager should be retrained in guest services cause she sure don't know how to handle a problem correctly. I just wanted to get my money for the one plate returned since I didn't eat and had a hair in my food. She offered nothing no even an apology nothing at all. The food was old and the bar was not kept up at all and she being the manager should have been more aware of what the food was looking like and made sure it was fresh and hot not sitting out there looking like 3 day old leftovers. I will NEVER go back to this place and I will be sure to let everybody I know how bad it was. They could've had a repeat guest but she blew that by the lack of concern for her guest and the condition of her food. It won't let me give no stars so that's...

Once again in the hands of the family of the original owners of the Mom & Pop's country ham and Western Steer restaurants, this location has come full circle back to the original quality of both service, and food offered back when at the height of the chain's best days in the 80's and 90's! The owner is a 'hands on' guy who is the head chef, manager, and cheerful greeter of his customers (when he has time between grilling scrambled eggs and steaks), making SURE that his clients are kept happy (Which makes them keep coming back, hopefully bringing friends) to enjoy a fully stocked buffet, rotating between breakfast all the way to dinner, but ALSO making meals to your order! I just got through having breakfast with a church men's group, and the service in our room was excellent, with the wait staff making sure we had full coffee, tea, and cokes while we ate and fellowshipped! I had fresh scrambled eggs, along with perfectly seasoned sausage gravy, and their famous country ham! Also available was freshly made french toast, pancakes, grits, glazed apples, and a whole host of other...
