This Hill’s location is similar to the others and embodies what you have come to expect from a Hill’s Seafood; a store that is bright, clean, and full of fresh seafood. As you enter the store, you are hit with the heavenly scent of seafood: fish, shrimp, crab, anything you could imagine. As a seafood lover, I enjoy the smells. They have a wide variety of offerings that come both fresh and frozen. And with their varieties, you can purchase the plain ingredients such as slabs of salmon, cod, tuna, shrimp, lobster, crab etc etc. or you can purchase items already prepared and just need to be baked, fried, or grilled. They even have some fresh tuna salad, seaweed salad, shrimp salad, and other similar ready to eat items. Since everything is fresh and seemingly high quality items, seafood is not cheap. You are paying a higher price because seafood is more expensive, especially the fresh items. They do offer a lot of frozen items too that you can take home and leave in the freezer to make at a later date. Some of the items have also been defrosted and you can ask for the frozen versions which means you can purchase meals to make at a much later date which is great! I know that I will always get good quality items at Hill’s which is...
Read moreI stumbled upon this spot while scouting for locations for a show based in Philly. I love seafood and was drawn as well to the stunning intact 50's diner this seafood market is housed in. It was the end of my scout day but detoured to Hill's none the less. So glad I did. Amazed to learn Hill's has been in this space since the 80's. They had an abundant selection of seafood and the staff behind the counter truly couldn't have been more helpful. I picked up a few things like the smoked trout and the ready to eat jumbo shrimp- did I mention the cocktail sauce? I've got to go back for a jar! Also took a prepared crab cake which just needed to be baked in the oven- pan works too-- and they were kind enough to give me a cooking instructions brochure. They've also got fresh baguettes and rolls. I just prepared the crab cake by baking the roll in the oven while baking the crab cake. I had some chili lime aoli which I topped with their cocktail sauce- with a glass of fine chardonnay-- what's not to love?? I will be back for the sushi grade ahi tuna! Thank you!! This place is the highlight of my Philly adventure! I need to add that I grew up near the Chesapeake Bay and know a good crab cake. This crab cake exceeded my...
Read moreI moved to the area about 3 years ago and this has been my best experience all around with any food I've purchased/customer service/errand I've run. This place is like a relic from a past time in all the right ways, it's like an errand you actually look forward to running. The management is very engaged and cares about doing a good job, and has very useful cooking advice for anything you may have questions about, and you're clearly not annoying them by asking. Every single employee genuinely seemed like they wanted to be there, and I know firsthand that that's hard to achieve. It's like that old school customer service where they genuinely appreciate you being there. I've only been there 3 times, but today I think they addressed like 4 different customers by first name while I was there, including myself, they remembered. Not to mention I've now had the monkfish, calamari, crab supreme, whitefish dip, trout dip, potato salad, shrimp salad, and cod and it's all of the highest quality and was awesome to cook. It isn't that common that running an errand to grab some food to make genuinely makes your day better, but do yourself a favor and if you want to cook up something nice for the night just go show up here, you...
