A staple of an old supper club from way back when is what you enjoy as you enter this well known restaurant in Lincolnwood Illinois . Always busy 7 days a week, if you come early before the dinner rush you can be seated almost anywhere in this large restaurant but if you plan on eating between 430p-730pm be sure to make a reservation as this place gets jam packed during dinner hours as long as I've been going there( & I've been going here for years)
So this month I've been celebrating my birthday and some friends wanted to go grab a late lunch/ early dinner and I suggested L Woods for some , as I like to call them, Fred Flinstone style BBQ smoked Beef Ribs.. And they were impressed!
I like to start with their amazing Tomatoe Bisque which has been on their menu for a very long time and is sooooo good you'll almost want a second serving! Their French Onion is very popular too but I for one am a big fan of this Tomato Bisque.
So the Creekstone Beef ribs is what we all ordered and , well, never dissapoints , slow smoked BBQ ribs come out on this platter - 1/2 slab gets you 3 ribs, Full slab gets you 5 ribs , I've never been able to eat 5 ( only 2-3) but I always order the full slab because I want the leftovers for the next day, seems to taste even better!
Its all a la cart here si you have side choices, I opted for the Au Gratin Potatoes and they're so piping hot and good, a party of three split this side dish as well as another side of twice baked Potatoes- excellent
For desert we split their Famous Apple Strudel with their house-made caramel . All I'll say is that you can't leave with out trying this freshly made once ordered dessert favorite amogst other of the many customers.
The ambience is dimmed dining, excellent menu options from Steaks to fish , large portion shareable sides and meals if you can't handle large portions , & us opened for lunch through dinner.
Reservations are highly recommended.

Read moreIt’s been a classic in the neighborhood but very disappointed with the experience.
It was there special, buttermilk fried chicken. It’s to celebrate Father’s Day, and it’s all my dads been talking about. We get in there and before anything the waitress tells us there’s only 21 orders left and if you want one let her know wand we’ll put it on the side. My dad immediately puts his order in.
Waitress comes back and the rest of us arrive at the table. We order drinks and she goes if anyone else wants chicken there’s only 9 orders left. everyone else was ok with getting something else. She comes back with our drinks and the manager comes out and says there’s no chicken left.
The happiness completely leaves his body. He goes she took my order as soon as we got in and then asked again when only 9 orders were left; what if 3 of us wanted chicken and then there was nothing left. He offered to “go check” and came back with an attitude like sorry you’re out of luck.
I understand if there were specials and you run out but we did not have the last reservation and L woods is always busy with there specials. He showed no sympathy and just walked away when my dad tried to talk to him.
They then brought out dessert to celebrate Father’s Day and that made my dad a little happier. We got the bill and charged us for the dessert.
It was just overall an unenjoyable experience because there is no organization between the servers and the kitchen and after they saw my dad was upset just ignored him even more.
Should be able to do better and not run out of food either especially now that they are a lettuce...
