Came in on a decent Saturday evening and was definitely pleasantly surprised. I was under the guise of a new customer from out of town, but yet Noblesville was my stomping grounds growing up. Definitely revamped, I walked into BE and just got a nice warm feeling from the ambiance that was set. Hosting station was prompt and friendly, I threw the curveball since I asked for a table of one (what a nerd, amirite?). Although their footprint isn't large, they utilize the space quite well. I never felt cramped on the first floor and I only got to take a peek of the upstairs - it looked great! Not getting crazy and eating light since I still had to make my descent to Fountain Square, I started with a Yes Chef and a water. It's a fun drink that would be my go to in the warmer spring transition to summer. The jig was up when Lisa greeted me as we briefly chatted about our prior run in, she made me feel like a friend right off the jump! Very warm welcome, Lisa gave me the breakdown of BE down to the history and what she was trying to bring to Noblesville and the vision as that downtown scene has transformed tremendously. I was introduced to Chamron, sister. She too was also very friendly. Lisa was very attentive to her team, as I noticed that she was either on the line looking at orders, speaking to her team for constant communication and running upstairs. It's great to see a nice cohesive unit in action! Had the vegetable spring rolls (since I'm currently smoking a pork butt), very tasting and fresh - and that peanut sauce was a wonderful compliment! Not having dessert, I decided to end my short stay with a Spicy Pomegranate Mule (spicy beginning, sweeter end). I decided to survey the upstairs as I was invited to do so, and got to briefly meet Sydney (sic?) and she was absolutely delightful as well! I genuinely hope this becomes a staple with the new downtown Noblesville scene as I've found the area quite a bit more inviting. I don't really have a reason to come back to Noblesville unless I get a spell of nostalgia, but now I definitely do for Lisa and her lovely team! Cheers! P.S. Supporting local business means the world to families you don't even know besides, it also makes you a little bit more adventuresome in a place you call home. Food for thought and if you go to BE, your mouth hole...
Read moreMy husband and I went here for a date night. Great atmosphere and service. The two sisters who own it are the most involved owners I think I’ve ever seen, working alongside staff, never sitting still. It is a very well-run restaurant/bar with plenty of staff, which is rare these days. The food and drinks are great as well. We started with the bread basket. I ordered the salmon BLT with fries, and my husband ordered the crab stuffed salmon with braised cabbage and a cup of tomato horseradish soup along with a pomegranate mule. We only have one little knit-pick; the garlic butter they spread over the bread is too salty for our taste. Other than that, the food was absolutely delicious. I honestly think the salmon BLT is the best bang for your buck at $17; it is a large BLT with good quality bacon and what I assume is a whole pulled, perfectly-cooked, salmon filet thrown in the mix. They do not skimp on the ingredients. My husband was equally pleased with his meal. After a wonderful dinner, we decided to head upstairs to enjoy the live music which begins at 9:00pm on Saturdays. There is a second bar and lots of seating upstairs. Good vibes throughout. Something we observed though: We’re no spring chickens ourselves, but this place could use a younger crowd, especially once the live music starts. I don’t mean college kids. Bar Ellis has a more elevated vibe that should appeal to the 25-40 crowd. It reminds us of places we’ve been to in large cities which we personally love. We’re really hoping it pulls in the crowds it needs to survive because it’d be nice to have such a place nearby for years to come. Highly...
Read moreWe recently visited Bar Ellis for a friend’s Birthday. We chose it because we love the owner’s previous restaurant 10 West.
To begin the staff was wonderful. We sat at the bar to have a few drinks before our table was ready downstairs. It was a bit tight. Each time people would walk through they would bump our chairs.
Our drinks were okay..but the mojito needed more mint and lime (which she was super sweet giving me a few fresh ones to squeeze in), and none of them were dressed pretty. For example no coffee bean with the espresso martini and no pretty fruits on the side of any drinks we ordered to make them look and feel fancy. At one point we saw the bartender looking up recipes to make a drink for us…which we get it but it was just a bit disappointing on the drink side overall.
Food wise it was good. We were hoping to follow up the famous walleye from 10 West but it was not on the menu. We did order the creamed corn we used to enjoy from 10 West! The crab stuffed salmon was a bit salty for our taste but we enjoyed the crispiness. We also ordered the horseradish tomato soup and grilled cheese which did not disappoint! We really enjoyed the coconut and grilled bacon wrapped shrimp. The carrot cake was wonderful.
Our server Seth was great. We didn’t have to ask him for anything he just had it ready! He even had a candle for our desserts without us asking! We stayed for a long time and he...
