Just tried to eat a carrot cupcake my wife brought home. I quickly realized, like many many others who have left reviews, the "frosting" portion of the cupcake resembled tasteless butter balls. The texture was of pure solid butter. I really tried to taste something in it, but couldn't. The texture was very off-putting as well, definitely not what someone would expect when eating a dessert. The carrot cake itself was ok, nothing amazing. I began reading reviews to see if any others have experienced this, to see if this may be an isolated occurrence. The majority of the negative reviews were in reference to exactly this PROBLEM. The frosting. The "buttercream" is NOT buttercream. From reading many of the reviews explaining this same buttercream issue, and the owner's responses to each being that she cannot please everyones' pallet. She further states that she does not use "American" buttercream which is full of sugar. Well, Shar...what kind of buttercream do you use? Stop blaming people's "pallets" for the buttercream issue. I eat everything from kimchi to octopus, I eat lots of butter everyday on my morning toast and when I cook eggs. It's not our pallet that is the problem it's your unwillingness to receive feedback and use it to change the problem that has been voiced by many. Or at least begin offering a traditional buttercream option that people like. When it comes to owning and operating a successful business, you focus on what the customer wants, not what you want. Your store name is Sweet Cravings by Shar. But, you keep replying that American buttercream is full of sugar and is not used? Sweet = sugar. If I am going to waste calories on a dessert I want it to be worth the calories. I would really love to see you welcome all the feedback regarding the "buttercream" issue and at least make an attempt to adjust and create an option that people will enjoy. I would gladly update my review if this...
Read moreMy husband and I personally love confectionaries in Sweet Creations by Shar. So, it came natural for us to try their cakes. The baker specially came out and noted down all the details. When we picked up the cakes (NO CARE INSTRUCTIONS WERE MENTIONED during the entire order/pick up process). My brother and my husband share their birthdays. This is the most special day in the year for our family - My brother's 50th birthday I ordered black and gold themed cake(as shown in pictures). We requested for cake pops on the top. 5 mins to 12am, infront of whole family(with more than 100 family members in zoom), the entire cake pops started collapsing and cake started bending to one side. We kept them all back and managed to cut it anyways at 12am, however when my brother took a bite of cake, his teeth, lips everything turned soo black, he had it wash his mouth for every bite he takes.(I think spray painted the cake wayy to thick that even touching the cake with a finger left a very thick black color on it). I ordered black colored cakes at many other places and never had this horrible situation. We literally had to trash the entire cake as no one could even take a bite.
Coming to my husband's birthday cake, its a blueberry-lemon cake, flavor is good, color only stays at the tongue. 10 mins to 12am, this cake also started bending towards one side, bulges on the surface.
Overall, I would never ever order cakes at this place and doesnt recommend others to order as well. Firstly, they promise amazing designs and doesnt deliver. Secondly, be mindful of the color of the cake, I cannot explain enough how horrific our situation was. Thirdly, they are super expensive for such low quality cakes(We paid $300 for two cakes)
We will definitely enjoy their confectionaries at the store but would never...
Read morePlease BE AWARE of exactly what you are purchasing before you buy anything from this bakery as they do not use sugar in their buttercream frosting and have no signs or statements that mention this, so you think you are purchasing a regular dessert but in fact are purchasing a tasteless cake filled and topped with a whipped stick of butter that is then beautifully decorated. I spent $50 on an absolutely beautiful 'Vanilla Buttercream' cake for mother's day that was just awful and no one could eat it - there was ZERO sugar in the cake itself and the frosting was like eating a stick of butter. Luckily, my aunt saved the day with her also beautiful $15 Vanilla Buttercream cake from Winn Dixie. There were a lot of vey elegantly decorated desserts in the shop, but NO SIGNS as to what anything was. The staff was friendly and the shop was very cute, but PLEASE include signs for what your items are and also a WARNING that you do not use any sugar in what you are calling buttercream or cakes since that is what people expect from a dessert. I also purchased a cookie that was as good as it looked (which is why I added a second star), and 4 cupcakes that seemed to have some sugar in the batter but were topped with that again tasteless butter frosting that no one wanted to eat. I recommend at least trying their other small desserts, but stay away from anything with frosting if you want to be...
