8-11-19 - BDay visit to Pappadeux. Not to crowded and seated right away. Slow going at first, and because the waitress took longer it gave me a chance to contact those not there to order everything at once. Ordered drinks, some alligator, Tilapia ladeaux, Gumbo and shrimp poboy, catfish meal, Blackened shrimp tilapia and chicken fingers meal. Service was much better after she arrived and took care of us the rest of the way. Food was good, but their fries could've been fresher. After the meal I had my traditional Sweet Potato Pecan pie ale mode, with fruit on the side. Seems like this time they were a little skimpy on the pie since it looked smaller than the scoop of ice cream. And times in the past the plate was decorated with Caramel drizzling. Overall we had a good experience and time out once more there.
04-26-19 - Pappadeaux for dinner. Was able to get right in. Many people celebrating birthdays, graduation, etc. Allani was our server and took care of us. We sat on right side looking out the window near the parking lot. Great view as always, and service. Had gumbo and gator bites for appetizer, stuffed shrimp and baked potato; and Tilapia and Jumbo Shrimp, with spinach and Butternut Squash.
10-2-18 - Pappadeaux for lunch. Ate outdoors. Great service and tried something different. Blackened Tilapia with Crawfish butter (crawfish in the sauce), greens, and Butternut squash. Wife had Shrimp and Grits with fried shrimp. Sauce was great. Throw in a swamp thing, and Praline Cheesecake, and couldn't ask for more.
8-12-18 - Bday dinner and dessert. We were able to walk in and get a table in an area for good service we like. Lavon was our server this time. She's only been there a few months, but made sure patrons at her tables were taken care. I had the Cajon chefs special with catfish, shrimp, dirty rice, etc. My wife had the 1/2 Shrimp Poboy sandwich and gumbo meal. The food was hot, seasoned, and came out in a timely manner. And sweet potato pecan pie with ice cream.
6-17-18 - Father's Day - It was crowded, even after arriving earlier. Didn't see the lady to set up seating till after I walked into the main doors. Perhaps a desk would've helped her. I was told 35 minutes, but was seated about an hour later. Our server was Joy. She had multiple tables, but was attentive. Ordered drinks, but didn't know there was a .95 cent charge for Arnold Palmer drinks till after the first one. Ordered lunch time Sampler Platter, Crawfish Platter with fries instead of rice, Shrimp Poboy with gumbo, and Shrimp Poboy with fries. Took some time, but food finally came out. My fries were cold so requested a fresh batch. My shrimp and crawfish weren't hot, and were ok. Not the best time here or the worst. Didn't get dessert this time. Wish they would bring back the coffee cups or something to commemorate father's like they use to. I enclosed to pics.
Earlier visit - Normally my go to restaurant, but this time had to change my selection from shrimp and grits to something more filling and satisfying. The waitress was...
Read moreI truly don’t understand how this place holds a 5-star rating—I must’ve stumbled in on one of their off nights… or maybe I was just one of the unlucky ones.
After living in Atlanta for 11 years, I had never set foot in any of their locations. But for my Goddaughter’s birthday, she picked this spot—originally intending to go to the one in Sugarloaf. The moment I walked in, something felt off. The vibe, the energy... it just didn’t sit right. But hey, it was her day, so we ordered—calamari, some dishes, all seemed fine at first.
Then came the espresso martini.
We asked our server, Kit, to place the order. What arrived looked—and tasted—like someone dumped cold coffee into a glass and splashed in some vodka. My Goddaughter politely asked if it could be made sweeter. I suggested adding a shot of Kahlua (in hindsight, Baileys would’ve been better). Kit brought the modified drink, but it was still... undrinkable. Still, in an effort not to make a fuss on her birthday, she smiled, thanked Kit, and drank it.
And now for the twist: the bill.
$291 for four people and a to-go meal. And brace yourself—$15 for that failed espresso martini, and $11 just for the shot of Kahlua. Let that sink in.
I mentioned it to Kit, and we spoke to Stephen, the floor manager. I told him, “Forget the charge—your bartender needs to learn how to make an espresso martini.” I wasn’t trying to be rude, but come on, anyone with taste buds could tell this was nowhere near acceptable.
His response? “Sorry, we’re not allowed to take alcohol off the bill.”
Excuse me??
So I said, “Then teach your bartender how to make a proper drink.” And his reply? “I don’t know… they have their own recipes.”
No apology. No offer to remake the drink. Just a dismissive, “Do you want my manager’s card?”
I was left surprised.
The whole encounter left a bitter taste—literally and emotionally. It dampened the mood, left my Goddaughter upset, and made me question what kind of establishment they’re running. Because this? This was not 5-star service, 5-star food, or 5-star hospitality.
There are countless places in Atlanta where you can get better food, better drinks, and most...
Read moreFirst, I'm not a first-time customer here at Pappadeaux. I had guess from Maryland visiting, and I bragged about Pappadeaux and shouldn't. This was the worst experience and service we've happened to have since coming to Pappadeaux Seafood Restaurant. We are waiting a very long for our food. The waiter had tables all over the restaurant he was working on, so he never came to refill the water or check on us or say the food was coming. When our food came, we had to send some of our food back but had to get another waiter to help because our waiter was nowhere to be found. The table next to us was so mad at the customer service from the same waiter that they had to go to the manager her name Jazzy this was a mistake she was rude and not useful at all and had a very bad attitude she never apologized to them over all the problems they had one was they lost the tables credit card then found it where it shouldn't have been sittind out of the sleave on a counter?Again, there was poor service from our waiter and service, so I never said anything to the manager becausei had guess and finallwe couldnt take anymore. Good thing because the table next to us was just livid and couldn't take any more either. I owned restaurants in California for 24 years and retired in Dec 2021 and relocated to Georgia, so my wife loved Pappadeaux from Georgia to Texas and its nice for someone to rake care of us, we've been eating with them since 2004. Its over I may never return after this service in this restaurant at least 2 tables at the same time was disappointed with the service the food and the bill, we were charged for bread when I ordered lobster with no sides but charged me the full price with sidedishes. Without continuing to ramble, I just won't return again to Pappadeaux. The meal didn't cost $2.00, so why did we get $2. 00 service and a bill almost $400.00? We deserve better than this. You deserve to serve us all better...
