I wish I could give more stars. Or maybe I have to lower a few other reviews I gave... A small place, seats about 25-30, so I expected diner quality food, or the cheap street food Americans think of as "Mexican food". But I was a fool - this little gem has THE BEST MEXICAN CUISINE I have ever had, including my trips up and down the west coast of Mexico! We started off with homemade chips and three great salsas. I had beef prepared in a way I had never heard of (suadero), in a dish I had never heard of (entomatadas). Delicious. Wife had barbacoa tacos. Perfection. Even the rice and bean sides were amazing, not the typical. A bonus feature: It has a small, open kitchen where you can see the friendly and professional staff preparing individual meals. All this value for the low price makes this place six stars, at least!

I’m in the military and I grew up in Chicago where Mexican food is a hidden gem. Moved to San Diego for my 2nd tour in the military and the Mexican food was great especially there mariscos. Now I came to VA and couldn’t find good Mexican food till now. The atmosphere and the design all unique are great. The people were great and nice. Now the food was by far the best in VA and the first time I can great agua Chile since moving out of SD. Their chicken tinga was amazing and tasted like my grandma made it. Their sales are the best I had in the whole east coast from NJ to here. The agua frescos were top tier and wish I got one on the go!

We stopped in for lunch today, and I am so glad we did! It's a cute little eatery, right near ODU. We were promptly greeted when we came in, and everyone there was so friendly and helpful. We both got the tortas, one chicken, and one steak and chorizo, and let me tell you, they were so insanely delicious. The homemade salsas were also top notch. I can't wait to go back and try other offerings on the menu. They definitely just earned repeat customers with us. If you're in the area make sure to check them out, you won't regret it!

You can report all you want to Google. Place is trash!

Now you want to act like the victim? You called me a rat in Spanish first and I said your mother back. Is hilarious that a waitress (or whatever your title is) is here "diagnosing" people to go to therapy when the customer service is TRASH! This restaurant will never grow. Pathetic

This is a response back from my last post:

Rata inmunda es la madre que te pario pendeja. Why would I tell you in person when you took forever to get our order? I have no problem coming in and saying to your face if you want to go there. Trash and unprofessional!

Two years ago my review was a 5 stars. I came back for 5 de Mayo and this place went downhill. The waitress was mediocre and apparently she was overwhelmed with just being by herself. It was ridiculous because most the tables already was eating so what was she worried about? She could not multitask and her customer service was trash. After a while waiting and seeing her space out and only one cook in the kitchen. We decided to leave! I am not putting one coin on mediocre service. She took forever to take our order. After we left she ask my husband “you guys change your mind?” Ahhh what do you think? Now you want to say something? We didn’t got chips or nothing! For 5 mayo you would though it would be packed but it was not. The place is trash! Never AGAIN!! Please train your waitress on how to multitask...

Went here to get a drink and use the restroom. I was surprised that one singular cola cost me almost six dollars. Mind you, I am partially deaf. So I voiced “ wow I can’t believe it was that much” and the rude waitress said “ yep it cost 4.50 plus taxes.” And I was given a nasty look when I asked her to repeat herself because I couldn’t hear her. Then I was like wow, rude, all of that to use the restroom and get a drink and she screamed after me on my way out “yep that because restrooms are for customers only” in the nastiest tone. I wouldn’t come back here if I was paid to. Nasty atmosphere and service. They’re hella greedy. Oh and the soda that was almost 6 dollars was flat too. That was an added bonus.

Edit** since I cannot reply to you I will here

I didn’t “simply go straight to the bathroom” I told the lady on the grill “I’m going to use the restroom and I’ll be out to get a drink” I guess maybe your cameras don’t have sound? Anyhow, your imported coke …which I can get here …with the coke label…was indeed flat. Not indicative of a coke. Maybe it’s old. Additionally, it also has a plain coke label on it. It’s not fancy or special. If it was it would…or should rather say that. That sounds like false advertising on y’all’s part here. Anyhow. No thanks I don’t want to dine at a restaurant that is condescending and rude to their customers. Have a...

I have to say, I don’t know if VA is severely lacking good Mexican food but this wasn’t the place of my dreams that the news articles claim.

I will say, the food was very good. The price, not so much. I may be out of touch but a street taco, smaller than normal, with only one tortilla (granted I don’t need the extra tortilla and theirs are homemade) is not $3.50. I remember growing up my pops would give me $20, I’d hop on my bike and be back home in 30 min later with 20 tacos. Inflation hasn’t 3.5x in 15 years.

The staff was nice, the hostess was witty and the waitress was awesome!

I couldn’t tell if I was in a hole in the wall or sit-down restaurant. Looks like a hole in the wall except that it’s new, with Jarritos playing the part as wall art. 🤔 But then they bring you chips and salsa, bus your plate and it’d probably be rude if you didn’t tip.

Weird East Coast vibe I guess. For instance, they close on Tuesday because they don’t want people trying to go out for Taco Tuesday with them?!

And the salsa was less than...
