Read moreI was not expecting to be sent home sooner than planned, but when they say "Texas Inspired," they took all the inspiration!!!
Much respect to the craft and the love, sweat, and time to make such a high caliber and consistent menu. Y'all, this place is like they hooked a tug boat to some lost part of texas and towed it to Virginia and put it in the heart of Norfolk!
I heard Phil Rosenberg is coming to Norfolk and if he doesn't stop by, he just might lose my respect for him as a Foodie, because out of all the places I've eaten in this great community, this would be the one place, if I could only visit one place!
Back to the food; The BRISKET.....🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾, I almost thought I was at Franklin's in Austin. In true fashion, I asked for marbled and the proportion was perfect! #IYKYK
Jalapeño sausage was the best I've ever had, having spice and flavor that was so savory and not overwhelming, I wanted more!
Mac n Cheese was perfect; creamy, cheesy, nowhere near dry, definitely homemade with love and pride!
Beans were not what I expected but in the most tasteful way ever; they are what i would call Cowboy Beans, a lil spice to awaken the taste buds and packed with flavor. I can still taste them, along with the brisket!
The ribs pulled apart like the brisket and was complimented more with the Georgia Mustard sauce, which is the best sauce they have, IMO!
The chicken was amazing; so good, I decided to save some for later.
Pulled pork was no joke; they ain't porkin' around with the seasoning and quality of any of the meats they serve.
I ordered the Meat Sweats Platter, and it was everything and more than what I hoped for.
I missed out on the Bananamisu, but that just gives me another reason to go back for more!
Last thing, Redwood owes me a pair of socks, cause I can't find mine and don't expect to either!!!
Thank you, Redwood Crew, and may the Lord continue to keep you in good graces of continuous service to your community and those visiting!
Until next time,...
Read moreI’ve been following them for years on social media and always wanted to try but I live on the peninsula and hate the HRBT. If you know, you know. But after notification of a rained out Tides game me and the fam hit this spot for lunch since we were already in Norfolk. THE ABSOLUTE BEST BRISKET I’VE EVER HAD. I love bbq and I do my own thing at home but this, nah man, it was on another level. Soo good, I want a part time job to learn how to get brisket that good and use the secrets at home. Alright…….so for a family of four, if you get the meat sweat platter like I did and everyone else gets regular stuff, you’re gonna be at or over $100. However, food this good is worth it. So on to the meat sweats platter. Of course, the brisket is chef’s kiss good. The ribs, tender and delicious, the pulled chicken was chicken, nothing to go crazy over but definitely wasn’t bad. The jalapeño sausage is a must! The pulled pork was good, I like mine a little more seasoned but I know cooking in mass for different pallets you have to find a median. My two sides were corn pudding which I wish I could bathe in and the Mac n cheese which was ok. Nothing to go omg over, perhaps a little too much butter in there but it was cheesy and a solid side. For desert I got the banana-misu, enough for everyone and we all enjoyed. Perhaps too sweet to eat all of it in one sitting but it’s pretty damn good. The picky eaters in my family also enjoyed their meals which was a surprise. All in all it’s worth the trip, worth waiting in line for and definitely worth traveling through the HRBT to get your fix. I can’t wait til they open in Suffolk. Wait I forgot to mention that the staff was nice and pleasant to deal with from placing the order, picking your sides to cashing out, nice folks. Also got to see Floyd, which is kind of celebrity in my mind from seeing him on the ig posts but he helped my kids with their drinks and was nice as well. I say allllll that to say this. Go get you...
