Tidewater Seafood Company, Norfolk, VA. I’ve seen this place for quite some time now and finally go talked into getting some seafood from this place. I wasn’t even that hungry, so I’d gotten like a Whiting sandwich and fries. So the whiting fish, which I like was pretty much 2 pieces of whiting on a bigger hot dog bun. Nothing else. No lettuce, no sauces of any kind, nothing. For $8 bucks, you can dress it up a bit. There like 2 people working: an Asian woman and an Asian guy. Probably married. But to keep the costs low, they don’t hire anybody to help out like shred some lettuce or put together some cole slaw or have hot sauce, malt vinegar and tartar sauce available which would make what I had, a sandwich. Gas has gone down, go buy some of these condiments from across the street!!! The sandwich wasn’t even good. It was just alright. They gave like 2 packets of tartar sauce. Pretty pathetic to me! I’ve seen a lot of these “seafood” places run by Asians. I mean, I love seafood, but there ain’t a lot of attention to detail. Just an Asian person yelling at you because you don’t understand the English language...
Read moreI wish I could show ya'll pictures. Today is Memorial Day so I decided to go to my local seafood market and get some crabs. I was fine with them only having males. I was also fine with them charging over 30 dollars for a dozen. What I'm not fine with is the extremely small size of these crabs and the fact that most of them were see through with a very weak shell and the meat was not attached to the crab in the shell. I've lived in the tidewater area all my life, and I'm no stranger to eating blue crabs, so I can tell you this is not right. This business was great when it opened, but there has been several changes of hands and it shows with the low quality of the products they sell and poor customer service. I asked the lady at the counter if they still offered the military discount and she acted like I cursed her out in her native language, and told me, very rudely no, and that everybody knows that now. I can honestly say I will not be back and I will not advise anyone to...
Read moreFirst and last time visited 4/18/2018. I order the crab cake and shrimp platter $14.00 I asked the cashier if I could get the shrimp steamed. He proceeded to tell me you are not going to like it streamed. I gave him the "kermit the frog" look. How do you know what I am going to like. I said well don't you put Obay seasoning or something on your steamed shrimp. His response I can do that if you would like. I said never mind let me leave it as is. The smell in the place had a horrible fish smell. I guess they don't change the grease often. I had to wait outside while they prepared it because it penetrated my clothes in less than 5 minutes. Highly disappointed. Crab cake tasted like something but it wasn't crab. I took one bite of it. The shrimp were ok fried really hard and small. French fries were covering everything. The fries were good. The hush puppies had no taste at all. Definitely not worth 14.00 Drive a little further for a...
