Blu — Restaurant in Norman

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a fantastic lunch at Blu, and it was an experience worth sharing! From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. We kicked things off with a couple of refreshing drinks alongside our pizzas, and let me tell you, they were absolutely spot-on. My friend Lisa couldn't stop raving about her Bloody Mary, declaring it the best she's ever had in her life—high praise, indeed! The cocktails were expertly crafted, really setting the tone for a great meal.

We also shared an appetizer of calamari, which was perfectly prepared—crispy, tender, and full of flavor. It was the ideal start to our meal. For the main course, Lisa went with a cauliflower crust cheese pizza, and I opted for the backyard BBQ pizza on a hand-tossed crust.

However, if you're considering the BBQ pizza, I must warn you—do not get the corn topping! It really overpowers the delicate flavors of the pizza, and the BBQ sauce was a bit too runny, unfortunately detracting from the overall taste. It's definitely something I'd skip next time.

The vibe of Blu is cozy and relaxed—it's got a nice, casual energy that's perfect for a laid-back lunch. Since it was a bit too chilly to sit outside on the patio, we decided to settle in at the bar, which was a great choice. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.

If any place has fallen, it's Blu. I remember it opening up. Cool and classy with pretty good food. Also expanding a little away from downtown. But now, I'm not sure if I'll come back. More than half the draft beers were out, the service was not good and with an undertone of attitude. I ordered a pizza a few minutes before the half priced pizzas started and rather than telling the kitchen to get it started, then ring it in during the half priced time, I sat there, without beer, waiting for the girl to put in my order. Very awkward. Now I can understand systems and times and things that are outside of their control. But that's not how it used to be. And the change is not good. Then what came out of the kitchen was something I would expect from an old freezer brunt and dropped pizza. The toppings were not evenly distributed, the cheese didn't even reach the crust. I was hungry and only went to Blu due to the memories of great food and good beer I've had there. I guess not any more. I used to make pizzas from scratch at Totos, so I may be critical of pizzas I receive, but this one was trash. As always, I review everything honestly. The management of Blu needs to sort their situation out. I'll probably never go back at this point. So many other places to spend my money. I'll get better food and service at Bisonwitches...

Went as a group on a Friday evening. At first people were very helpful, the atmosphere is high-end, and I had high hopes that this would be a great experience!

Then we were given a waitress who should not be a server. Her attitude was bland, and she seemed out-of-it. After the food was delivered, she never checked on our table. No one asked how we were enjoying our meal. No one got a refill on drinks. We waited ten minutes after finishing our meal before someone from our table had to get up and locate our waitress so we could get our checks. She did not wait for us to grab our cards, and instead walked away and did not come back for another five minutes.

All this being said about the service, the food tasted very good! I'm sure the inspiration for the restaurant is to provide outstanding, satisfying, and healthy meals, and I have to say that I believe this has been achieved! The hummus was fresh and one of the best I've tasted! I would definitely recommend getting this. Their pizza was fabulous! The salmon was tender and cooked perfectly! The only thing the table was not very fond of was the mac & cheese appetizer. It wasn't creamy or cheesy enough, and had too many breadcrumbs.

So overall I would give this restaurant a 3/5. If I hadn't been thirsty the last half of the meal I would have...
