This has very quickly become our favourite coffee spot. We live in Chickasha but regularly travel to Norman, and simply cannot pass through without stopping at YDC. I’m not much of a coffee snob, but the freshness and enhanced flavour of the product here simply cannot be denied. I’ve tried multiple different drinks both hot and cold, and have thoroughly enjoyed them all.
I’m a huge fan of the relaxed, vintage vibe of the store, and the staff are always delightful. There is one guy in particular (very tall, dark hair) who makes the absolute best cappuccinos! However, they are all extremely polite across the board, and make the overall experience that little bit better.

I also really appreciate how much they encourage community involvement and have local artist hang/sell their pieces there. You do have to be mindful that they rotate their drip coffee pretty frequently so you’re not gonna have as much consistency in the flavor of your coffee if you just go in and ask for light/medium/dark roast. You have to be more mindful of what country/flavor profiles of whatever they’re serving that day is. They are one of the two coffee shops in Norman that roast their own beans on site. Prior to finding The Yellow Dog, I was ordering specialty beans online and having them shipped. Their roasts are so good that I find myself driving to Norman to buy coffee beans, rather than tap on my phone.
Speaking of driving — if you go on the weekend, there is parking in abundance. When the Hiland Dairy plant across the street is in operation, however, you may need to be prepared for a short walk.
