I’m not giving a lower score, because it’s local and everyone has different tastes, and I’m a suburban white guy so take my opinions for what they are. But if you’re like me, I will offer my perspective:
I won’t go here again, just simply because the food is very bland and doesn’t have much flavor to me. Some may like that. I didn’t think the consistency was amazing either. The food wasn’t bad or gross or anything, and the store was clean, although the men’s room was out of paper towels.
I ordered carne asada street tacos and a burrito. I will say, I don’t think they are used to to-go orders so maybe just dine in if you’re going here. I got my food and there wasn’t any sauce or anything for the tacos. I went back in and politely asked for hot sauce and napkins. They gave em to me but he said “why didn’t you just eat inside?” so yeah I think they aren’t used to people taking food to go.
Another interesting thing was when I was asking what comes in the burrito, I said well I know it’ll be good no matter what, and he said “it’s made by an actual real Mexican, so it’s going to be good” which I thought was weird. Mexicans make food everywhere, they are also in the kitchen at burger joints and all kinds of places. We are used to Mexicans making food, especially at Mexican restaurants so it’s nothing new. But I think he was just being friendly and chatty with me. Just kind of an off statement. The dude was probably Mexican himself btw, as he had explained to me that he has the best English out of anyone there but that it’s still not great.
The chips and salsa and queso were good. No complaints there. Definitely nothing amazing, but I don’t even expect chips n salsa at a place that isn’t Tex Mex so that’s fine. I found it funny a dude made a review on here saying he had hoped for authentic Mexican food but was disappointed and didn’t like the queso LOL. Calling food authentic or not is just super vague and dumb anyway. If it’s real ingredients, the food is authentic. And if you’re wanting authentic Mexican, you’re not expecting queso..
Anyway, that’s my experience. From a suburban white guy who enjoys taquerias, taco trucks, and Tex-Mex alike, I found this food to be bland, and I found the beans to be odd-tasting. But clearly there are many who like the food here so no...
Read moreWe had a party of 20 for Mother’s Day & I really can’t stress enough how well it went. First, the original reservation was made & then, we called only a couple of days ahead to see if it would be possible to add 7 more and were graciously accommodated. Everything was set up when we arrived & we were greeted warmly despite it being 1pm on the busiest restaurant day of the year. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu & very personable. He chatted & joked with everyone from my preschool aged nieces to my octogenarian grandparents & was able to answer questions about the food easily. The food was excellent & despite the large group, everything arrived promptly & at the same time (especially appreciated with little ones!). Most impressively, despite some picky eaters in the group, not one person’s order was incorrect & everyone really liked their food. I also ordered a couple of meals to-go that were packaged nicely & included chips, salsa & queso. Refills, extra sauces, takeout boxes, etc. were all provided promptly as well. I was certainly impressed & expect this to become a go-to place...
Read moreTraveling from Dallas Tx to Wyoming we thought it wise to get a last meal of good authentic Mexican food before getting too far north. Chose this place based on the reviews and weren’t disappointed! Casual, friendly place. Great service. Ice cold beverages served in frosty mugs. We had enchiladas and chicken fajita burrito. Both were very good. Ask your server for recommendations if you go. They serve chips with a fresh salsa and cheese dip upon arrival. Our waiter also brought us some of their roasted pepper and tomato salsa (warm) that was delicious! Make sure you ask for that. Our waiter (owner?) told us they make several batches a day and usually run out. They told us the soapapillas were very good but we declined because we were stuffed! I later heard our waiter telling another table that was trying to decide if they wanted the sopapillas that they couldn’t go wrong because they were free of charge. I’m not sure if it was because of the day (Tuesday) or if that is the case always. Great experience, great food,...
