Letās start with one of the phrases posted on the wall, with colorful LED lights, that immediately lifts you up, whatever state of mind you are in, āHasso, Jiyo, Muskuraoā, and that sums it all for us, when we think of it as a Restaurant. You go in, you smile with the first impression, you feel lively inside with all the precious memories Pakistan will always be celebrated for, you share laughs, you eat very well balanced and delicious Pakistani food and come out satisfied.
Yes, I am talking about āBaithakā, the newly opened Pakistani restaurant in Central NJ, North Brunswick, with lots of hype, where I picked something to go on the opening day and went for a sit down brunch with my bestie (Begum), when kids were off to school, for a pre-Ramadan date. It was a very pleasant experience. Owners are very knowledgeable about what they are doing and exactly know how to keep up with the food scene, with very positive attitude towards taking criticism, if any. They have worked really hard to bring this to reality, with incorporating truck art, with their own individual style, and fused them very nicely with the original recipes of the food they offer. Book corner is our favorite area, where they have all the collectibles, you can read while you are there. This is truly unique for a Desi restaurant in NJ. Wall pictures/art/paintings are a delight to cherish Pakistan. ā¤ļø
Letās talk about food. We gave our feedback to the owners and they were really receptive and took it with a positive note. Very humble people. Begumās favorite was the Bihari Chicken Roll, mine was Club Sandwich and Aaloo walay fries. We also had their Beef Bihari Roll and Bun Kabab which were very well flavored and tasted really good. Chicken seekh Kabab is highly recommended as it has a very unique and distinct flavor profile, unlike what we usually get in Desi restaurants. Falooda serving was good enough and the sweetness was not overpowering, one of the good ones in NJ. Kulfi is an absolute delight and reminded me about Rabri. Love it. Chai was perfectly doodh pati and yet strong enough to stimulate the mind, and not just milk mixed sharbat like other places. I can have that Chai all day.
Congratulations Shahid Sahab and their family for such a beautiful and delicious addition to the Central NJ. May Allah give Barkat. Aameen 𤲠Thank you for the great hospitality....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me start with the Gol Gappay we ordered. I've never had Gol Gappe this soggy before. The crunch wasnāt there at all, as if it was made long ago.
Now the Mojito, how the hell does each mojito taste different?! The sugar consistency is way off. As If it was made by some kid.
Then we tried Beef Nihari, for 33$ the 2 Nihari we got was a joke. The meat is very little. The salt & spices just werenāt there enough. It was bland and had a very small portion. I consider myself a foodie, I've tried foods from so many places and even countries. But this Nihari was an insult to all desi food. Ridiculous.
The goat biriyani was below average. Me being generous would say It's at least edible. Is it worth 20 bucks? Hell no š The price, the taste, the portion. This is a criminal offence to say the least!
Thank God at least the over priced kebab was average in taste. That's something I can forgive. But for the rest of the food and their prices, I might as well sue them for mental distress!
We did inform the manager about the food being bland and tasteless. Before we even finished talking, this old guy got really defensive. Saying things like, It's just our opinion. Other people come here cause they like it. If It's my opinion, It's fine.
Never have I ever seen a Manager act like a teenager girl throwing a tantrum. He immediately escaped too and did not come back. So we just paid the bill and left. Naturally we are not coming back here again.
As a person whose family is in the restaurant business, I understand accidents happen. So if your paying guests inform you about it, fix the problem and apologise. Hospitality isnāt about having a big ego and throwing tantrums. We paid, sure. But in a sense this was basically a scam.
Spend your money well guys, do not give businesses your money who will commit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. This was our first and last time we went to this restaurant ,I wouldnāt even give one star to this restaurant and its management and service, they are completely and totally a rip-off . We went for buffet dinner on Eid as a group but 3 families and we wanted to pay our bills separately and they said they couldnāt make our bills separately when we asked for the reason they didnāt have any explanation for that we went for a buffet and it was 27.99 pp and kid was 13.99 and we were 7 adults 3 kids but as one group they ended up charging us over 350$ which did not make sense at all for the buffet prices all they cared about was just their gratuity which was 55$ and thats the only reason they charged us as one group and they did not want to bill us separately which we requested them again and again , we never ever had any issue before in any other restaurants, we went to almost every single pakistani/desi restaurant and none of them said they couldnāt make our bills separate except for this restaurant. We asked for water 6 times and nobody gave us water bottles ,we asked for soda 6 times and then they brought our soda cans, they didnāt have good food option either the sign would say noodles or kababs and there is daal on the buffet table , they had nothing good in dinner buffet menu or dessert menu but it came to charging us money they charged us extra for everything. They will make your reservation for 7pm and you will be seated at 7:45 because their restaurant is super small and very un-organized. They only have space for may be 50 people but they try to fit 100 people in there . NEVER EVER GOING THERE AGAIN AND I WILL MAKE SURE NONE OF THE PEOPLE I KNOW (friends and family ) WILL GO THERE EITHER. Honestly people like them make pakistan and Pakistani peopleās...
