Chili's was initially founded out of an old roadhouse that operated in Dallas, Texas, by Larry Lavine in 1975. The prominent menu at first featured burgers, chili, chips and salsa, tacos, and other southwestern fare that many Americans would soon desire. 50 years later, the chain still thrives in the fast casual service chain, as they strive to cater to an ever-changing American palate, with items such as the Triple Dipper, Chicken Crisper Dipper Baskets, and Baby Back Ribs remaining as productive as ever.
I came to this Chili's on a Friday night, with the intention of getting a quick and filling meal after going without lunch just hours prior. This location was close to the Hampton Inn I was staying at. It was a close walk to the location, oriented in the heart of a major shopping center in North Brunswick. The service of this location was on the spot, as our server immediately serviced us. By the time we had gotten to our orders, we had already gotten our beverages practically. Additionally, our food came as we were in the midst of the consumption of our Chips and Salsa. 30 minutes after being seated, we had already gotten serviced the check and had been on our way out.
The general atmosphere was also pretty usual for a Chili's, the location was similar to other sports bar chains such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee's, and TGI Fridays for example, with TVs on every corner playing major cable sports networks. The food, which was only $10.99 for one of their 3 for Me meal deals was impressive for the price point and was also significantly better than any fast food burger I've had for a similar price point in the last 5 years. The Big Smasher Burger I had was a great burger, the spice, flavor, and taste all went above my expectations. The added Fries also were hot and filled with enough spice to enhance the bland potato sticks.
Overall, this may be my only time at this Chili's location, considering what my travels may bring me, but my love for Chili's will never...
Read moreFirst and foremost I want to say that I love Chili’s. And in all the years I have gone to this restaurant this was my first horrible experience. I was visiting New Jersey for the day and chose this location. I sat at the bar and I had a greeting from Juan who was not very friendly. I ordered a drink and water. Within minutes this female server brought me a beverage. When Juan came over I said I don’t know why she brought me this. That was the first mistake. I ordered a watermelon margarita that was clear in color with a sugar rim. He didn’t even ask if I wanted a salt or sugar rim. I asked him to make my drink over. That was the second mistake. He clearly was bothered by it and whispered to the manager and another waitress and that’s where the stares started coming. The corrected drink was dripping all over the place and I used a napkin to wipe it up. He wasn’t very nice after this. I’m not sure why this location discontinued a Caesar salad but he brought me out a garden salad. If I would have known he was going to bring that I would chose something else. I had about three bites and left a good sized portion . And the whispers and stares kept coming and the manager was entertaining this unprofessional behavior. My main course came out. I have never had a fatty sirloin at Chili’s. It makes me almost think they did this on purpose. Juan asked how it was and I said it’s fatty and he smirked and walked away. He was standing at the register and continued to snicker to himself. Now the manager knew what my complaints were and instead of approaching me with my concerns she chose to make sure I knew she wasn’t going to deal with me. I didn’t come there to try and get a free meal and nor did I want one while I had horrible service. I paid my bill and walked out. It’s a shame I had this experience in such a beautiful area of New Jersey. But I will continue to go to Chili’s. One unprofessional restaurant will not deter me from going to others who know what customer...
Read moreSooo normally we really enjoy going to this location. The foods always great. A little heavy on the spice overload but all in all as long as you request no extra salt or spices the foods good as well as staff. Tonight on the other hand, it took about an hour for food to come out which is fine it was much needed family time :-) The waiter was really nice and professional but he must have been very busy. I don’t want to bad mouth the waiter because I think he’s new and for being new he was actually a delight to work with.
Now, the problem I had was my broccoli. It clearly had black spots and was turning yellow so I just wanted to inform the manager of it. Black spots/mold, start growing When the broccoli head is not properly stored or when it has been stored for a long time. ... If you start to see yellow or black spots, it is a sign that the broccoli is past its prime. This tells me that they’re not keeping an eye on things in the kitchen.
We asked to see a manager who believed the black spots was actually the “red” season salt. I informed her that when I ordered I asked the waiter to ask for no salt on my food. Clearly that wasn’t the case and she said “okay” and asked what I wanted to do. I told her she could just bring me fresh broccoli. I wasn’t going to make her take the entire plate back because that’s just silly it was only the broccoli and To my knowledge she did not touch anything else on the plate. She came back out to inform you that all of the broccoli had those black spots on it and asked if I wanted something else to replace it which I politely declined because I had more than enough food.
All in all the staff is nice here and the food has always been good. I guess wherever you go you’ll either have good...
