This review is specific to Ganesh Visarajan - 2018
We were asked to register online, make payments online and then drop our Ganesha at Suma foods tents We did that and a lady asked us to leave our registration printout below the Ganesh idol On Sept 30, we were asked to join at Johnson park for Ganesh visarjan at 4pm EST The procession did not start until 5:30pm EST We looked through each and every idol several times and could not locate our Ganesha On checking with Suma Foods Management, we were told that idols are still coming in different vehicles (even at 6pm EST) Suma Foods Management owner, reacted unprofessionally to us when enquired about our idol - she said they have been trying to get Ganesha from the tents since 9am EST and have had not much help, she completely unaccounted for our idol and blamed the entire audience for not being helpful The owners son at around 6pm EST told us several ganeshas have been left behind at the tents given the increased number of orders they received this year. I enquired, if we go back to the tents , search for our Ganesha, and get it back, will you do the visarajan.. on which after some thinking, he said yes We reached Suma foods at 6:20pm EST, there were several idols left behind at the tent, we could not find ours and were disappointed. Then we saw a reflection of Ganesha in a locked car. On peeping in we saw several Ganesh idols trashed in the car. We then observed several cartons left around. There were Ganesh idols toppled one over the other and everything left behind
The point I am trying to make - people come to you because you are trying to help them with their faith. I agree you could have been overwhelmed and you had less help, but if you are going to take charge in owning people’s faith, please don’t play with them.
I sincerely recommend everyone to not leave behind their idols at Suma foods with hopes that idols with make their way to the visarjan venue. And for some reason If you have too, please don’t come to the visarjan with hopes of finding your Ganesha! Suma foods you not only lost our idol, you were extremely unprofessional and disrespectful in...
Read moreHave always used their services for Ganpati, including their immersion Ganpati idols visarjan services. Freshly prepared food and snack menu variety is also a plus.
**Updated January 2019 based on a very poor experience and deteriorating service: No longer a reasonable place to buy Ganesh murtis No feedback based on my complaint from a disappointing Ganesh idol buying/ immersion. Displays lack of service for long time customers who in addition also donate for a cause during the festival. We have noticed a very commercial approach since past 2 years. But far too many of us were very disappointed this year in September 2018, both while buying Ganpati murtis as well as during immersion. I am downgrading their rating from 5 stars to 2 stars. We started noticing their overpriced Ganpati murti costs last year but this year, it was truly over the roof inspite of the fact that they didn't order much newer ones this year. We were told that due to issues, they didn't receive consignment on time and also since they had enough stock from 2017, we were told they might not receive new shipment on time. Was way overpriced than last year. Have been buying from them since past 7 years but might not do it next year. Met about 7-8 families this year who expressed same concerns as us. In addition, they left out ours and many more murtis back at their shop but were not too honest when we asked why our murtis were not to be seen at Johnsons park, the immersion ceremony site. We went to their shop the next day, literally shocked to find all the left out idles in a messy wet, muddy state due to rains. It was not at all clean and absolutely unorganized. Definitely too, too disappointed seeing the state of our murti lying uncared for. Inspite of charging fees for immersion and giving them a voluntary donation for the final event, we observed that the fact there's so much demand that they are now literally ignoring the great service they...
Read moreI have ordered Diwali Faral from Suma foods for 5 years in a row now. I was happy to have found this service which made nostalgia sparking Faral and I was willing to pay whatever they asked for it. Last year they sent out an email about the change in management/ ownership. They promised no changes in taste and quality. However, this year's Faral was a total disappointment. The Rava Besan laadu used to be amazing, this time it tasted like the rava and besan weren't roasted well. The chakli didn't taste the same. The karanji option offered was only fresh coconut version and wasn't great, it smelled funky which is a common pitfall when it is fresh coconut (they offered the traditional dry coconut version before which was amazing). The biggest disappointment was Chivda which was downright inedible because it was unarguably too salty. Why they did not taste it before packing I don't know!! I hate to give it 2 stars because I used to love it before the management change. But the low rating might get their attention and I hope they take it as constructive feedback and make some changes. We appreciate the service you offer but serving inedible salty food is just not right. Please work on improving the quality and we'll be happy to order the Faral again...
