I bought a Groupon to try this place for the first time. When I came in, I waited at the front counter. The manager stayed on the phone 7 minutes before acknowledging me. She did say, "sorry" after she finally hung up.
I told her that I wanted to use a Groupon, but order to go. I mentioned that I must have missed that in the fine print, but it was okay since I was ordering two entrees and preferred to eat the appetizers (miso soup and salad with ginger sauce) there.
I did just that. I'd finished two soups and was working on the first salad when the entree arrived. I asked the waitress to prepare it to go.
The manager came over and raised her voice while telling me that she wouldn't allow me to come back. She then said next time come back with a family. That comment was both inappropriate and offensive.
I reminded her that the Groupon did not say the number of people that had to be seated. Moreover, I ordered salmon teriyaki and red snapper teriyaki, totaling much more than the price for the Groupon. I'd also spent 40 minutes in the restaurant at this time. So, I wasn't sure what the problem was.
She walked away from me while I was talking, which was quite rude. I asked her if she'd like to continue the conversation since she'd walked away from me. She said you are supposed to dine in. You're only eating the appetizers here. That's not dining in.
I let her know that I did not appreciate her raising her voice at me multiple times, though, I had not done so to her at any point. I asked to take care of my check and let her know that I would not return. She then said well no one has asked to do what you wanted to do before. I told her that having a conversation with me about it would have sufficed, but there was no need for her to be rude, which she was quite.
To be fair, the food tasted fine. However, good food with bad service is still a no for me....
Read moreI’ve always had a hard time enjoying sushi from all-you-can-eat restaurants. For reasons I still don’t fully understand, I often end up with stomach discomfort even when I eat just one roll and an appetizer. It’s frustrating, especially since I don’t overeat and genuinely enjoy sushi.
That’s why I was pleasantly surprised when I tried Ninja Sushi in North Brunswick. This is not an all-you-can-eat place, and the difference in quality is immediately noticeable. The sushi here is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. Each roll holds together perfectly when you pick it up no mess, no falling apart. You can really taste the quality in every bite.
The restaurant itself is on the smaller side if you’re dining in, but it’s clean, cozy, and comfortable. What really stands out is the service. I have a large family, and we sometimes place big orders — up to 50 rolls at a time. The staff never seems stressed or annoyed. They’re always friendly, efficient, and get our orders done accurately and on time. Delivery is prompt and reliable as well.
Most importantly, I never feel sick after eating their food something I can’t say about most other sushi spots, especially the all-you-can-eat ones. Ninja Sushi has become a go-to for us.
If you’re looking for high-quality sushi with excellent service and none of the unpleasant aftereffects, I highly recommend giving Ninja...
Read moreMy original review is below, but had to update and post my concern. Tonight I ordered and got 2 pieces of toro... at 9 dollars a piece, it's delicious. However, as you can see by the photo, the 2 pieces in the center are NOT the same. The dark pinkish red is toro, the other dark red is regular tuna (confirmed by tasting). Charged me 9 dollars for toro and gave me a 2.75 piece of tuna. Way to treat customers like idiots thinking we won't notice. I'm done with this place. I'm going to midori in highland park.
Used to love this place and ordered way more than I would like to admit. The go to sushi place! Owner is super nice. The servers not as much, but I care about quality of food over friendly servers. However.... have noticed the quality has diminished over the last couple months. Not sure why. Avocado hasn't been fresh. Mackerel used to be seared and delicious now it's overly fishy with a weird spicy sauce. Toro used to be amazing too, but also has Not tasted as good as it was 6 months ago. Maybe a different fish supplier? Or maybe the fish sits there for a few days and my luck I get the several day old fish? Hoping they fix this soon, I miss how this place...
