Canaan Country Club and The Belted Cow — Restaurant in North Canaan

My wife and I have dined in many highly rated restaurants. Some down right disappointing and quite expensive. So I finish a round of golf and take my wife to the Belted Cow for lunch. This is lunch remember because my wife had some of the most delicious fresh sea scallops she has ever had and I had a hardy stew that was outstanding. I could hardly believe this was the same restaurant I had eaten lunch in a few times the year before. The waitress mentioned brunch on Saturday or Sunday so we definitely will try it. Good food but poor management. Dined there twice in the last 3 weeks, first time we waited 45 minutes to be served our burgers. Food was cold, apparently no communication between one waitress at end of shift and new waitress at the beginning of her shift. Today ordered cheeseburger which per menu includes fries and spicy pickle chips. Received dill pickle wedge and potato chips instead. When we asked about the fries we were told there is only one cook and he can't cook burgers and fries simultaneously. ...

We stopped in last night had a fabulous meal. From the Tempura Shrimp w/ spicy dip & Caesar salad to the Prime Rib & Lemon Chicken. Wow! Flavorful, fresh & juicy. Carol was awesome, took great care of us. Too full for dessert so took the tart Lemon bar home to enjoy later... yummy! Entire restaurant has been tastefully redone by new owner since last here few yrs ago. Beautiful new spacious & clean bathrooms too. Casual, comfortable. Pool tables & darts in the side...
