Industry Kitchen & Bar — Restaurant in North Canaan

We were excited to see a new place open here but were pretty disappointed when we stopped for lunch on a Sunday. The place looks great but the food was mediocre at best. Spinach and artichoke dip was barely warm and tasted like the kind you can buy frozen at the grocery store…very bland. For our meals we ordered the carne asada tacos which were okay and the fried chicken sandwich that has a chick fi-la like sauce and pickles. Again, the quality was similar to a frozen grocery store item. The chicken sandwich came with fries which we upgraded for $2 more to “Cajun fries with Chipotle aioli drizzle” Regular fries came out and when I reminded our waitress we upgraded, she took them back to the kitchen and came back 30 seconds later with the same plain fries with a ton of Chipotle aioli on top. Take my review with a grain of salt, because I was here for lunch early on a Sunday. Firstly they may be understaffed, but the quality of the staffing seemed low. The place wasn't that busy to rate the amount we were ignored. I had to wait till they brought the check to "ask" for a refill on my water. It has been a long time since I have experienced such a dichotomy in the food at a place. The chicken pesto flatbread was very nice, and one of my dining partners got the fish tacos which were good as well. Unfortunately my other dining partner got the Industry Chick-fil-a which was terrible. I switched my dish for theirs, for the sake of their stomach. Maybe it was an off day, but it was more fried breading then chicken. And the sauce was much more spicy then indicated in the menu, an unpleasant surprise. I did not try their beer, was too...

This review gets 1 star because the female bartender was so great. However, in the middle of my husband’s birthday dinner, we were told we had to pick up all of our stuff and plates and meals and drinks and coats and move down to the very end of the bar because there was a bigger group of men that wanted our seats…. When I questioned the appropriateness of this, I was told by the male bartender that my seat was needed for the men who just walked in (btw- plenty of other seats and tables open where they could have been seated…). I had no choice. I was told pick my meal up and to move. Humiliating and disrespectful and truly awful experience. My patronage was worth less than someone else’s. I will never go back.
