Stop & Shop — Local services in North Canaan

I’ll make it quick, you goto the his ShopRite and spend about $200, I went into this store for Plain Seltzer usually the stores are out or have to goto the back of the store, and as usual this store did not have enough of the store brand plain Seltzer that was on sale 3 for $12, this happens almost on a regular basis and I wish it didn’t, but beware when you goto this store in Canaan, CT they will not accommodate you at all when THEY are short on a particular sale item… even if it’s something that they know sells fast… not only did they tell me to take a rain check and come back and get it then, they didn’t even offer to check the back of the store… The young lady at self checkout was demeaning and badgering to an extent, I felt like my mother was correcting me…. I was very polite and decided to goto the help desk, well that associate was worse then the self checkout associate…. Neither did she ask if anyone checked the back of the store, she just said NO… our policy is if we are short of a sale item we WILL NOT ADJUST THE PRICE EVER, we will give you a rain check and then you can come back and quench your thirst.. I have to e honest there are way to many places to shop these days to put up with this nonsense,, and after 25 years at Pepsi in Manhatten I now see why all of these chain supermarkets are going the way of Toys R us… I guess rules are rules, but just a heads up as the associates here are as friendly as rabid dogs, who knows maybe my NY accent threw them...

I stopped in stop and shop canaan store today to exchange a blue rino propane tank. When i arrived there was a gentle man with three tanks and the service desk person just just came out to help him. I set my empty outside and told her i needed a tank and was going in to pay for it. Once inside i had trouble finding help. Seemed no one at the registers knew how to charge for a tank. They said i needed to go to the service desk, but she was outside. When she came back, she seened pissed, apparently she was late for her break. She snapped at me that she left my tank sitting out, cause she was not going back out! I payed, thanked her and as i walked away she reminded me it was where i put the empty, if its still there! I get so tired of the nasty arrogant people. I also must say the propane was way cheaper at carr hardware. 24 and change at stop and shop, 19.99 at carr, and that carr tank sure seemed alot heaver than the blue rino tank. Carr also had friendly service. So save your frustration, and...

Canaan, being the capital of Connecticut, makes this Stop and Shop’s location superior to any other grocery store on the planet. As a long time customer, I do not understand the negative reviews left regarding staff and food selection. One individual brought up a lack of fresh produce. People still eat vegetables? Complaining about a lack of greens at Stop and Shop is like complaining that there isn’t enough VCRs to go around: it’s because they are outdated. Another person was complaining about the self-checkout section being out of order. Is this something to be upset about? You really want to bag your own groceries and pay for them? No, you don’t, so stop acting like you’re a hard worker. Lastly, the addition of the robot named “Marty” is better than the invention of Play-dough. While Marty doesn’t do anything besides get in the way, it never gets old to look down the aisles and say “What the fu- oh, it’s Beepy.” Overall, Stop and Shop in Canaan is so perfect it’s considered...
