Asian Grill — Restaurant in North Carolina

The two servers are what made this review a three and not a one. Both hustled, maintained composure, and were so sweet. The food…well, it was basic and lacked depth that is associated with Asian cuisine. It wasn’t horrible. The place was hopping with takeout orders, so that’s always a good sign. We were the only ones dining at first, which made me hesitant during the dinner hour. The place needs a deep clean. The attempt at tasteful decor and ambiance is there, but is overshadowed by the dustballs and grime in the nooks and crannies of the dining area. Especially when you first walk in—first impressions! However, with all that being said the food just isn’t good enough to keep us coming back. It IS popular (lack of other options in area also), but so is Dunkin’ Donuts (and their coffee and donuts are AWFUL) because people in the southeast haven’t experienced TIM HORTON’S—it would put DD out of business, but if basic’s all ya got, then you don’t know how much better it can be. Im just mad at myself for not trying this place sooner! I totally judged a book by the cover and didn’t think it was going to be anything special but I was wrong. It was delicious and fresh and as a native NYer who knows good Chinese takeout I can say this is some really amazing food. A little on the pricy side but all portions were big and packed well. My normally very picky 4 year old loved the sesame chicken which was made with white lean chicken and not overly breaded. Fried rice was seasoned well and not overly oily. I’m in Wesley Chapel area but will be making the drive to pick up take out from here going forward!

I also will say I normally never tip more than a few bucks for pick up but the service when I walked in was so good that I tipped 20%. If I could leave zero stars I would. First of all I called 19 mins before closing. I would 100% understand if i was calling at 8:50 but I called at 8:43- ❗️19 mins before closing❗️. wanted to order a small order for pick up, I live less than a minute away. They refused to let me order even though they were still open. I’ve worked in the food industry before. It doesn’t matter- If your still open, you still take orders.

I also called back after they refused my order to try and understand why nobody would take my order at 8:43- considering they were still open for 19 more mins. THEN the manager had the audacity to actually call me back (of course they had the time for that but not enough time to make a simple togo order) ONLY bad mouth me when the only question I had was “why would your business say open until 9:00 if you’re refusing to take my order at 8:43”. With that being said the costumer service is awful as well.
