I tried Don Beto’s Tacos and Taqueria for the first time today. I ordered the taco sampler, quesadilla dinner and the asada fries. I also got a side of cheese dip and received the chips and salsa on the side. The cheese dip was average , tasted just like every other Mexicans cheese dip. The salsa taste bland, but did seemed fresh and almost “ home made”, but over all tasted like blended tomatoes with no spice or seasoning. The chips were just your average chips. They had no salt but went very well with the cheese dip. Nothing too special about them.
Steak fries- The steak fries were very good, amazing portion, they were topped off with some pico de gallo and guacamole, the guacamole was very bland and didn’t really add to the meal, but the steak, fries and cheese all blended very delicious.
taco sampler- I received 6 tacos, Tinga de pollo, asada, carnitas, Al pastor, barbacoa, and chorizo. The tinga pollo tacos tasted very unique, I’ve never seen a Mexican restaurant near by use tinga and I was very surprised, I would say it’s more of an acquired taste but loved them. The Barbara tacos were very bland and hard to bite, I got two meat chucks in my tocos. The tacos de asada tasted mid, they had great seasoning, over all I feel like you would enjoy this very much if you’re a first time customer. By far the tacos de pastor we by far my least favorite, they tasted very bland, had to add a lot of lime and salt to probably enjoy them. The carnitas tacos were very good but I received only two meat chunks on them so it was a bit harder to enjoy them. Last but not least were the chorizo tacos and they were amazing, I would definitely recommend them to any customer.
Steak cheese quesadilla- I received the steak cheese quesadilla with a side of rice and beans. The rice was very well made, tasted homey and the rice was not so split. The beans tasted like the store bought canned ones that were just reheated and a bit dry, they were topped with some cheese. Over all the rice and beans had a good taste. The cheese quesadilla came cut into 4 triangles, very well made and had...
Read moreI never review things you guys. Never. I'm the person that says "oh it's okay. They're probably working out the kinks" But tonight? Severly disappointed. Long story short, my husband and I received a sweet waitress but had no idea what any of the drink prices were. Problem #1 right there. Problem #2 followed with the two large $13 margaritas we ordered that were 75% full of ice and maybe one shot of tequila. Okay so here's where it gets to problem 3 and 4. I had a bug in my water and the lady apologized and got me a new one. Then, I had a bug in my margarita as I stirred it with my straw. I got a replacement. Relatively okay food. Although I don't know where the whole concept of paying for chips and salsa came from but whatever. Received our check and got charged for my buggy margarita? I thought I would be okay but it wasn't settling right with me. I walked back into the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager. The girls at the front looked like I presented them with a title they didn't know existed in a business. I got the gentleman who told me "you should've really said something when you checked out". Okay fair. But I asked anyways if he could refund my husband's card. "That's not how that works" is what I got. And to top all this off, his final rude send-off to me was "here. takes owner's business card I'm gonna make this easier on you and me." He hands me the card that says "one free Marg" and his initials. Now listen y'all, I work in customer service. I totally get difficult people. But never have I EVER given someone attitude. And I've had receipts thrown at my face. I contacted the manager and just notified him of what happened. I don't expect anything in return. Just to tell him what happened. Two dollars for my two flies that drowned in my drinks. And no. I don't want a free mango juice that you call...
Read moreThird time was not a charm for me. Based on my two previous experiences, the food is great. Today, I sat at the bar, ordered my beer and was asked if I wanted food. I replied, "Yes," so I received a menu and silverware from the bartender. I guess it was bad timing on my part because she was getting ready to leave. The new bartender comes in and the two of them proceeded to restock the bar area. No problem, I understand, midday not that busy. However, another guy walks in the bar, instantly gets a drink. There's another guy that walks in, the new bartender recognizes him and he instantly gets a beer, she knows what he wants. Come to find out, the first guy is the old bartender's boyfriend which she proceeds to introduce to a couple of other patrons that just entered and they order drinks. The bar area is not that busy but I'm still sitting there with a food menu. Do I need to wear a sign on my head that states, "I want food" to get any service? Also the old bartender made sure that I paid while she was cashing out her day so she would get credit for my overpriced beer. All the while I was never acknowledged by the new bartender and still had food menu in front of me. I left my beer unfinished and proceeded to walk out since I had already paid for it. Wasn't even acknowledged for my business. Here's my conclusion: this the first review I have ever submitted for a restaurant. I love going out to restaurants and respect the fine folks in the food service industry. However, the main thing I noticed from the three times I have been to this establishment is that if you're not in the Flowers Plantation "in crowd" that frequents this said establishment, don't waste your time coming here even if the food is very good. Your service...
