Just left here and let me tell you, one of the worst experiences we've ever had. For starters, the hostes (older lady) was telling everyone that had party over 6 people, that it would be an hour and a half until we were seated, unless we split the party it would only be 15 to 20 minutes. With that, my family of 6 and two other families around us all split our prospective groups up thinking it would be better then waiting an hour and a half. So my family migrated outside by the bar to wait. 2 hours went by and I decided to go inside to see what the wait was. I walked to the hostes mentioned above and kindly asked where I was in the list. She told me it would be another hour. I then brought up the fact that she had suggested we split the party, and that it would only be 20 minutes wait if we did that. She proceeded to call me delusional for even thinking that and stated that she never said that. I then walked outside and talked to the other groups and they stated that the hostes had told them the same thing about the 20 minute wait. So about another 45 minutes goes by and I look at my "table holder" thing that they gave us and I realize it was not on, no lights.. nothing. I then walked inside towards the hostes, when a nice lady stopped me and asked if I was "600" I said no mam we are number 30 but our machine didn't seem to be on. She then stated that they had tried us and we never came and apologized that the hostes must have shut it off. She then quickly seated my family. As for the meal.. the food was way overpriced for what we got. I'd compare it to Applebee's on a good night, but triple the cost per plate. The waitress was very nice and served us well. The table wedged closely to us really was the cherry to the pie. Extremely loud, abnoxios, drunk family. I could barely hear myself think much less have any form of conversation with my family. This truly was top five worst places I've ever eaten. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I truly hope that someone reads this and does not make the same mistake I made by going...
Read moreThe food was decent but there were a couple issues, one of them being inexcusable and was handled poorly. Let me start out with the first issue, we ordered our drinks and I got an uncarbonated Diet Coke that tasted almost foul. Next time our waitress came to the table i just asked for another Diet Coke hoping it would be at least carbonated, and luckily, it had a bit of carbonation but the foul taste was still lingering. Itâs completely understandable, I didnât mention anything more about it, was no big deal. The bigger issue came with the food. I ordered the fried shrimp that came with coleslaw, fries, and a medley of vegetables. The vegetables were pretty good, the fries were decent, and most of the shrimp was okay. Iâve definitely had better fried shrimp but it was alright. The problem came when I picked up one of the shrimp and I noticed a hair, not just on top of the shrimp (which I completely understand when that happens), but actually baked into the shrimp, a 4-6 inch black hair. I put the shrimp on the table, separating it to show the waitress the next time she came by. When she did, she asked how everything was, I said âI found a hair baked into one of my shrimpâ, she looked at me almost like I was the one in the wrong saying something about it, she paused and then said âWould you like an entire new plate?â In almost a condescending manor. Usually if that happens in a restaurant that isnât fast food they would offer the meal for free or at least give you a complementary item, whether itâs a desert or what not. But instead she asked if I would like, no joke, an extra shrimp. I said âSureâ, because what am I going to say? So about 10 minutes later they bring me a small dish with one shrimp on it. It was actually laughable. So the food was decent (besides the hair and the flat pop obviously), but I was just not impressed how they handled it, I wasnât even upset with the waitress until she made the comments she did, it wasnât her fault, it was baked...
Read moreWe walk in at 8:20pm on A Saturday when they close at 9pm with 16 people. There was zero fuss from the staff, no whispering between waiters or waitresses about who had to take that big table before closing. They sat us down quickly and with a smile. The waitress was quick, polite and stayed on top of our refills without having to be asked.
Food: Get the Oyster Rockafeller with what I thought was mixed greens underneath. Unlike every other restaurant on the East Coast, they fry the oysters perfectly. Most places overcook them and turn them chewy , but HSWG nailed it 100%. I was snagging extras off other people in our group. None of us ordered entrees, we just all went with appetizers for our meal. 2 people was about $40 for 3 appetizers and 2 drinks. The crab dip must have been pretty damn good unless my fiance just inhaled it to ensure I didnt get sick from bad crab meat. There wasn't even any left to the link the bottom of the bowl. We brought in 2 babies, one of the screaming when she banged her mouth off the table but I never got even a whiff of being rushed out since it was pretty much time to close the doors. Fantastic food but even better people.
What I will remember most is someone taught the staff here the 10' rule. The 10' rule is to greet anyone you cross paths within 10' of during your day, whether at work or out and about. I dont think I passed one person who avoided eye contact or failed to say hello, have a good night or something. Excellent all around and anyone who reviews this place different is probably from...
