Lee Robinson General Store — Local services in Hatteras Island

been coming to hatteras for years (over 20) and have family that live in the area and this has always been our favorite spot. however, this year we experienced some terrible customer service. didn’t have any cash on me and was ridiculed for using a debit card for a small purchase, even though i didn’t have another choice. multiple other family members experienced haste from a couple of particular employees and although we always said thank you and have a nice day, the employees response was rolled eyes and dirty looks. such a shame, this was our favorite little spot and only 2 people managed to...

Unique and hard to find products on the island, so 2 stars for that. They have started charging a credit card fee this year and do not tell you beforehand. And while there are many signs around the register and on the credit card machine, none say that there is an additional fee for using a credit card instead of cash. They are already expensive as it is, so I don't buy anything here that I can get elsewhere on the island for cheaper. Always such great stock of groceries, wines, local "canned" veggies, cold/frozen products beautiful local art gifts, shirts, children's items, & always, nice selection of BOOKS, local writers, children's, fiction, & non fiction, incl Outer Banks history. Always browse & wind up w purchase! Had my fave ice cream this yr, also, " mint chocolate chip". Cordial owners & staff to help. Also now, carry some delicious homemade breads & of course, fudged.
