My wife and I stopped in last night to try the newest Mexican restaurant in town. Place was empty. We sat at the bar. Chips and Salsa were promptly served, along with cold beers. Thin chips. So thin that the bottom of the basket was all crumbled up. Like eating the last remnants in a potato chip bag. Salsa was very good, nice spice.
Server asked if I wanted cheese sauce. Said, “sure”. It came out with a thick layer on top. You know how it get’s when it’s been sitting for awhile? It tasted fine when you dug to the bottom.
We started looking over the menu. It was a one page menu, front and back. When the server came back, I commented that is the smallest Menu I had ever seen in a Mexican restaurant. She informed me that this was not a Mexican restaurant, it was a California Baja Mexican grill. A little on the lighter side. What?????? They bring chips and salsa, don’t they. Don’t California my Mexican!
Looked through the menu and was having a hard time figuring out what to try. Found the fish tacos. OK maybe,, until I see the phrase , “Dos Equis Beer Battered Cod”. Noticed it on several other menu items. They are proud of their cod. That did it.
We are on the Crystal Coast at a restaurant at a famous location (Ruddy Duck) sitting over the water. and you mean to tell me that you’re serving “Dos Equis Beer Battered Cod. Ain’t no way!
You have to do lot better than frozen cod off the USSyscoFood truck. This is not going to cut it when we are surrounded by an abundance of fresh local seafood. “Dos Equis Beer Battered Cod”, Come on!
So we kindly told the server, thank you very much, we’ll pass on the entrees, paid our tab and headed to another restaurant. ……To a place known for fresh local seafood. ...

Visit 1: Saturday May 6th, 2023. My husband and I have lived locally for several years. We’ve been waiting seemingly a lifetime for an authentic Mexican restaurant to come to Morehead City. We anxiously awaited the opening of Tower 7, and we’re rewarded with an absolutely amazing dining experience! We sat outside at the waters edge and Roman gave us his expert opinion on the perfect margarita to pair with our meal, while attending to our every need. The way the chef enhanced the entrées we chose with fresh notes of citrus, basil and a bit of “heat” had the true mexican flavors bursting in our mouths!
Visit 2: May 7th, 2023. We loved the food and our experience so much, the next evening I decided to call and place an order for pick-up, for a relaxing “at home” meal, as my husband wasn’t feeling great. When I called, I was told that they’d be starting “take-out” on Monday (the next day). I asked to speak to the manager to see if they could accommodate me, and Shaun (Sean?) was amazing! He said he was sorry to hear that my husband wasn’t t feeling well, and of course he would take care of us! To say that I’m impressed with the restaurant, staff and management is simply an understatement. They have far surpassed all our expectations with excellent food, service and professionalism! Tower 7 is Morehead City’s newest “it factor” restaurant and will fast become a favorite for locals and tourists alike for excellent food and drinks in a warm, friendly and relaxing atmosphere! Awesome job to Shaun and staff !!! Looking forward to our next...
Read moreI was part of a party of 8. We all agreed the atmosphere of eating outdoors in a large sheltered area right near the water was wonderful and the best part of the experience.
The service was very good. Our waitress, Katrina, did very well managing our party and other tables in her area. My wife mentioned the hostess was very nice as well.
Unfortunately, the food fell short for almost all of us. The food experience started with guacamole. It wasn't well prepared, compared to what we've had other places. We doctored it up with limes and a little salt.
I got a burger. My experience with the burger kept the food rating from being a 1 star. My burger was decent but no wow factor.
The 3 kids with us got fries, chicken strips, etc. and did not express an opinion regarding their food.
The other 4 adults got the seafood oriented tacos, fajitas, etc. type dishes. 1 of the 4 was extremely disappointed after 1 or 2 bites, the 2nd ate a little, picked over a little, and left much of her dish uneaten. The 3rd and 4th ate their dish but mentioned it was just ok. Those who ordered seafood would have preferred to eat some other place if they knew of a better option. Because we were at the coast there was a high expectation for a really good seafood experience. Reasons they mentioned for their disappointing experiences included dish lacking flavor/not seasoned well enough, portions too small given the price, and seafood may not...
