Antonio's Pizzeria — Restaurant in North Charleston

Great NY style pizza. Things to know before you go: they only serve pepperoni or cheese pizza and only one size--a gigantic 20in, only a few tables inside, counter service, paper plates, and only bottled drinks to include sodas-Pepsi products, water, sweet tea. It is set up like a real pizzeria-grab and go or just grab a quick seat to enjoy pizza as soon as it comes out of the oven. The pizza fed our group of seven and the boys even had 2 pieces. The slices are the size of a paper plate, so one piece is plenty for most. We were all starving so I didn't get a picture...sorry. But a quick synopsis of our pizza; cheesy with cheese pull for miles, even distribution of greasy yet delicious pepperoni, foldable dough, so you must fold in half to eat and grab plenty of napkins, perfect chew to the crust, simple but good. This is a smart way to run a pizza joint. They do pepperoni pizza only, and they do it well...so no need to change or add anything to their recipe. Grab one of these on your way home and your family...

I had heard some people on the Berkeley FB group talk about this place and then I read reviews and decided I had to try and I was not disappointed. Being from NY and NYC and moved to the Low Country 4 years ago, I have not found the perfect NY style pizza until now. The place is simple and very clean. There's only a couple of options on the simple menu. The smell in the place is definitely of a NYC pizzeria, I can't describe it but you would know it and took me back right away to those old school NYC pizzeria's I grew up with. The taste of the pizza was just about right on with NYC pizza. It definitely had the right dough size, texture and taste. I read something about a water filter they use. The sauce was awesome. I don't eat cheese so we did half no cheese pepperoni and half cheese and pepperoni. The pie and slices are huge. I just had left overs and I'm just in awe of how good this pizza was. Preface this with I have never had any issues until now I called and ordered a two pizzas just now I order here at least once a week when I am in town. The guy rushed me off the phone I asked if he had ranch he said “no mam this is a pizza shop” the line then went silent I called back and I said I think we got disconnected he said I thought you hung up on my after I said this is a pizza shop. I said no and I worked in a pizza shop ten years ago and we had ranch so I understand it varies and he said “do you feel better I have other orders to attend to I put your order in ok bye bye” I then called again and said that it was rude and I order from them often and to treat people that way is rude and he said he was the manager I asked for the owner and he said“ the owner doesn’t have time to deal with this” and something else along the lines of how it was basically meaningless because he was not rude in any way.
