I have heard so many good things about this place and decided to give it a try Sunday night. Upon arrival we were greeted by two young ladies that were very personable and kind. They shared their favorite dishes and informed us of the live jazz band nights. We were seated in the jazz room as requested and the ambiance was amazing. Our waiter Johnny came over to inquire about our drink choice we had a few questions regarding the specials and wines listed and that’s when the shift of experience occurred. Johnny informed us that he could not see and he would have to put on his glasses though we were to the best of our ability reading the names of the items we had questions about. No matter the question Johnny made it a point to state that he could not see the menu to see what we were inquiring about. We ordered an appetizer it was okay warm not hot but tolerable. Time to order dinner Johnny once again explained that he could not see what we were talking about, his delivery changed the entire experience for me due to him disappearing and lack of wanting to assist a first time customer. I got the seafood pasta (not the correct name but it had clams, shrimps, scallops and mussels) while placing my order I inquired about the sauce options and stated “The three sauces are listed” I explained that I was able to read but was wanting information regarding the sauce type I received the pasta in a lemon butter garlic sauce and it was okay. In my opinion the seafood wasn’t fresh as I’d assume it would be (just my opinion based off eating fresh vs previously frozen seafood). Had me nervous….. My spouse ordered the spice vodka rigatoni with grilled chicken but the pasta was overcooked making it too soft. After receiving the food we never got any assistance until he felt it was time to bring the check. I am use to someone checking in to see how things are coming along. Let me not forget the complimentary garlic bread was amazing. Hopefully everyone experience will not be mine and maybe you will catch Johnny on a different...

Read moreI'll be honest. This place has a lot of potential. I like the way it's laid out and not bright and loud like a lot of modern restaurants. We went on Sunday for Jazz night, which I was excited about because I saw they had Jazz but was never able to go because it used to only be on Thursday.
The food was good. And I think with some TLC and a person with an eye for aesthetics the environment can be something a lot of people are looking for in the Charleston area. My wife and I had a good date night dinner. I got the 16oz rib-eye and she got the shrimp scampi.
Only thing I didn't appreciate is an old man who was the lead singer, and I am guessing someone who is attached to the restaurant in some way, came to our table twice and joked with my wife, once before we ate and once after he sang a song. Both times he joked with her about helping her with a divorce, and that he knew lawyers. My wife and I have a pretty solid relationship and it's not deeply offending, but for some people this might hit a soft spot in their relationship. It was funny for me the first time, but someone should talk to him about coming up with new material.
We may go back, we live right down the road and I love jazz and the food is good enough for it to be a frequented place by us, but, I don't know, I just think it is inappropriate to joke with a man's wife about getting a divorce, no matter how old you are. Especially when it's pretty much the only thing you have to say and you don't know each other at all.
I'm pretty forgiving of restaurant experiences and old guys who think they're funny-my dad's 82 and is one for a cringy joke from time to time, but yea, kind of diminished my excitement. I...
