For the purpose of what we went for, a delicious hot seafood soup, it was a fantastic find! I love shrimp soup or the Seven Seas which includes crab, lobster, two sizes of shrimp, calamari, crab, fish, and octopus. It was fantastic because aside from all the protein, it also had carrots, celery, and potatoes. The shrimp one also had a decent amount of shrimp, large shrimp, and the carrots, celery, and potatoes. They provided plenty of lime when we asked for more, and they also gave me bits of jalapeños as well I requested, aside from onions and cilantro they had already brought. I appreciated this because I love spicy soup and spicy everything. The reasons I gave them a three are the following: Their drinks, Horchata and Jamaica are very, very bad. They taste so horrible that I asked for the Horchata after trying the Jamaica, and they charged me twice. Later, they removed it because they have refills, and it was my second one, and they didn’t tell me they would charge an extra one just because I changed it. Maybe they should inform people first. The reason why I didn’t want their Jamaica was because they didn’t add enough leaves when they brewed it and too much water. It didn’t have the rich and bitter flavor it should have had, and it tasted just like water and sugar with a minor taste of Jamaica. The Horchata was just as bad. I truly do not recommend that you try them at all or pay money for them. They are not worth it. They’re also expensive at 5.00 dollars, but they are not worth it. They taste like they’re from a bag not true Jamaica boiled lose leafs and rice water for the Horchata. So, I would never get them again. But, the soups were amazing. If they had deveined my shrimp and their drinks would have been good, and if they had brought salsa and chips, I would given them a five. I’m not used to walking into a Mexican Restaurant for lunch and not be greeted with salsa and chips. It’s regrettable. I would definitely recommend the seafood...
Read moreMy husband and i wanted to try a good mexican seafood place. We stumbled upon La Rivera and decided to give it a try. Firstly let me state, it was LOUD. I could barely hear myself think, let alone my husband speaking. Secondly, we felt rushed by the waitress. Had to ask her to give us more time about 3 times. The second and third time we asked for more time she suggested food for us. Thirdly, we ordered just water for the both of us, and an alcoholic beverage. My husband got his water, I didnt. When i received my mixed drink, it looked nothing like the picture….but i will say it was strong….probably the only thing i liked. Fourth, the food i ordered looked great in the picture and when it came out…but the taste, NO THANK YOU. Shrimp was dry, rice was sticky, and the fries….the fries were great. When my husband received his ceviche mixto…let’s just say they couldve just put all the ingredients in the one water bottle they gave us. The waitress only checked on us once because once her man walked in she completely forgot about us. When she did think of us we asked her for the bill. Took her forever and when she did give it to us, she said “sorry guys i forgot.” This place shouldnt be called “Mariscos: La Rivera” instead it should be called “Mariscos:...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem. I live literally with in walking distance and have passed it many a time. As soon as I sat down I was greeted by Jose who is one of the coolest kindest souls I’ve ever met and extremely professional. Not only him but the manager and the rest of the staff as well! I never felt I was ignored or overlooked at all and the knowledge of food, beverages, and drinks are superb especially tequila! The atmosphere is very taqueria but what really sells this place is its homey and friendly vibe. I will...
