Restaurante La Costa — Restaurant in North Charleston

I’m not sure if it was an off night for this restaurant or not but we arrived around 6 PM on a Saturday night and our server got us one round of drinks, then we had to go up to ask for change for the jukebox because otherwise the restaurant was completely silent, and all of the lights in the bar were off and the staff was watching movies on Netflix. They did give us some extra credits so we entertained ourselves with the music, but that was the last unprompted visit from our server. We had to go flag someone down to bring us chips & salsa maybe 15 minutes after arriving, were never offered waters, and had to go flag someone down again to come take our order after almost a half hour - and we were one of the ONLY tables. My boyfriend and his sister got the aquachile, which they raved about and saved this review from being lower. I ordered the Camerones de Coco and had a pineapple margarita and could taste the canned juice. My shrimp was good but the meal was supposed to come with rice and instead came with Ore-Ida style crinkle cut French fries which is not what I was expecting from an authentic Mexican restaurant. I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Mexican restaurant that truly offers authentic cuisine, and I must say, it was a remarkable experience. I started with the Tlayudas, which were incredibly delicious and a delightful departure from the ordinary; they are quite large, reminiscent of a pizza. Additionally, I ordered the charola de marisco, which was nothing short of amazing, featuring a variety of seafood that was 100% delicious. The service was exceptional as well; the waitress was not only attentive but also very friendly. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for genuine Mexican food...
