Hello everyone, WOW! Where do I start? I was just blown away at a new local Mexican restaurant in Pottstown, the name of this place is named Los Osorio Mexican Restaurant. What I noticed from the moment we arrived that they were crowded, lots of people waiting outside, in their vehicles and sitting outside on the patio. We gave our name and phone number in hopes to get a table but after an 30 minutes wait it was obvious we were not going to get seated, so we decided to order to go, the waitress handed us a menu and from the looks of this menu it was professionally done and was done right just the right amount of meals on the menu to choose from not over whelming.
Ok this is what I ordered, I ordered the Enchilada Dinner that included 4 delicious enchiladas covered in the most perfectly made mole sauce not to spicy and just as delicious as my grandmothers recipe the dinner included plenty of rice and beans also authentically made and very tasty as if you were eating them in Mexico, my wife ordered the Diabla shrimp platter included a dozen shrimp, covered in spicy mild hot sauce my wife said she will order it more spicy next time also included freshly made rice and beans and a fresh dinner salad. We also order 2 chile relleno’s dipped in the perfect amount of egg batter and stuffed with steak and cheese again mouthwatering.
We definitely are planning to dine there again this time going to make reservations to get a table out on the patio.
They are located at 181 W Schuylkill Rd Pottstown, PA 19465
I have included some pictures of our meals enjoy.
FOLLOW UP TO SECOND VISIT AT Los Osorio Mexican Restaurant
Okay folks My wife and I went back on Saturday evening and we ordered another great meal my wife ordered Pancho Tacos, fresh Sea Bass Tacos Choice of deep-fried fish or shrimp with red cabbage, pico de gallo and chipotle that I had to try so my wife shared a bite and it was awesome juicy and the best fish taco i tasted even better then the fish tacos I use to eat in Rosarito Beach in Mexico. Now my meal was simple i ordered the Torta Steak Sandwhich it doesn't seem like a big meal but let me tell you it was so delicious and filling i had to take the second hlf home and enjoyed for the next day the ingredients are Choice of beef milanesa, chicken milanesa, grilled chicken, grilled steak, al pastor or carnitas. Comes with lettuce, tomato, avocado, jalapenos, oaxaca cheese and red or green salsa on sour dough bread.
FOLLOW UP TO THIRD VISIT AT Los Osorio Mexican Restaurant
(Third time is a charm) well Los Osorio Mexican Restaurant did it again this time it was a weekly family special 9 tacos, crunchy or soft your choice, 4 half burritos, Chips, salsa and our two mango drinks so fresh and delicious all for only $34.00.
For those that have been saying they had to wait so long it's because they are busy and theY are providing meals to local families who lost their apartments in a local fire and on top of that they are serving curb side not indoors.
As for my experience I called around 3:00 pm, they took my order i paid by phone and told them i would be there at 4:30 pm. When I arrived i was greeted at my car and they asked my name and with in 5 minutes i had my food and was back on the road by 4:35. Always best to call ahead
Like I said Third time is a charm and we definitely will keep going back for more and as for those complaining about the prices they are spot on sure you can go to a taqueria, get similar food and pay $1.00 a taco but they will be mass produced have burnt meat and you will wait longer because of all the people buying the cheaper tacos, but it will never be this quality and...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place since it's right down the street and I think everyone needs a good dose of Mexican cuisine once or twice a month. There's a lot to process here, so let's get started.
There's always going to be growing pains with any new restaurant with menus changing, cooks and servers finding their flow, and properly stocking inventory to meet demand. No one gets it perfect. We weren't expecting perfection, but what we got was lackluster at best. I'm going to break it down by category.
Menu: It's not a big menu, and that's usually a good thing for a new restaurant. Everything was laid out and easy to find and the descriptions paint a good picture of what you think of when it comes to Mexican cuisine. There were a few food and drink options that weren't available due to supply. We were elated to find that they added side salads to the items we ordered, but we'll come back to that later
Dining area: When we approached for seating we were lucky in our timing to get a table as a group was leaving. They only have 4 outside tables, so I advise calling in advance if you want to check what the availability is. It is first come, first serve. It was mostly clean and wiped down with disinfectant before seating. They were wisely serving food in to-go containers to cut out having to manage dish washing as well.
Service: This is where things start falling apart, and it's hard to know exactly what needs the most attention. The server was very nice, even while dealing with people who were hot and upset for having to wait long times for their food. Definitely someone who didn't have enough training before being sent to manage tables by themselves, but she put her best effort in. There seems to be a disconnect between the kitchen and the servers. There was no order to when food arrived and those surprise side salads, sadly never made it to the table. They were understandably slammed with customers during the Friday night rush, however the table next to us waited almost 2 hours to get their promised salads before leaving.
Food: Here's the most important thing we took away from this visit. These were not the authentic flavors we expected to be getting. The rice and beans were woefully under seasoned. The Chimichanga was not cooked all the way through and was missing the sour cream. The Tamales were mostly filling with chunks of meat in pockets. The chorizo dip wasn't bad, just low effort and value. It was standard store bought nacho cheese with chorizo dumped in and a little shredded cheese on top. Not bad, just cheap. Everything was either bland, lacked enough sauce to coat the item, or didn't taste homemade.
I think this place really missed the mark. This feels like what it is, someone trying to replicate flavors they don't have a firm grasp on. I think the curse of this building may claim another restaurant and don't expect it to last long without some...
Read moreMy wife and I had lunch at Los Osorio and enjoyed it very much.
It’s about the size of medium-sized diner and heavily decorated in a Mexican motif (duh!). They have booths around the perimeter and 4-tops in the middle. They have only one menu so the prices and portions are the same for lunch and dinner. The prices are reasonable for the area. I could only find a abbreviated menu online or on their website. The full menu is larger and more diverse.
As with most cantinas we were given a bowl tortilla chips and salsa to snack on while reading the menu. This was the best salsa I’ve ever had. There was some ingredient in it that I never tasted in other salsas. We mentioned to our server how much we liked it. She thanked us and said: “It’s a secret” as I expected. Maybe I can pry it out of her some other time.
I had a chimichanga with al pastor-marinated pork slices that are cooked on a vertical rotisserie. The chimichanga was large enough that I brought half home for lunch the next day. It was filled with al pastor and cheese with more cheese drizzled on top. It’s served on shredded lettuce and comes with pico de gallo, guacamole, Spanish rice and refried beans. The beans were a little thin for my liking and I felt they could have used a little seasoning, perhaps some onion, garlic and cumin.
My wife had a chicken quesadilla that was so large is covered a dinner-size platter end-to-end. She is an aficionado of quesadillas and said it was the best one she’d had since we moved from Georgia. It came with pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream. The servings of all three could have been a little larger as there was plenty of room for them on the quesadilla.
There is a paucity of good Mexican food in the area. We’ve tried several restaurants but never gone back. Los Osorio is a place which will...
