I came across this place on social media and really liked the vibe, so since I was passing by on my way up north, I decided to stop in. The inside was cute, and I loved seeing the bakery case fully stocked. That said, only two things really stood out to me. First, I’ve never been to a café that didn’t serve regular drip coffee. When I tried ordering a Café Au Lait, the person behind the counter didn’t know what that was and instead offered me an espresso with steamed milk. A Café Au Lait is such a basic drink that any café worker or barista should know how to make it. Maybe I’m just old school and it’s rarely ordered these days, but it felt like I was charged more simply because they didn’t have drip coffee for what I wanted. Second, the scone I ordered had this odd gummy chew and off taste. They do give you the option to have it warmed, but honestly, heating it up wouldn’t have made it any better. I’m always open to trying new spots and giving them another shot, but for me, this one is a...
Read moreBest coffee I’ve had in Cecil County; the maple latte is a must-try and will keep me coming back for years!
A big highlight is that everything is local! The flour is from local farms and the coffee is Chesapeake Bay Coffee which I often buy for home because they’re a phenomenal roaster!
The smoothies are great too, and my daughter was delighted with the cinnamon muffin as well.
I found the other baked goods like the scone, croissant, and knot too doughy/dense for my preference; my croissant was also underbaked and a bit raw in the middle. The flavor is good though, I’m sure with time they’ll improve the technique, it has a lot of potential and should not deter anyone (myself included) from trying them again in the future!
Hopefully that’s constructive criticism because I fully endorse this delightful coffee shop; the coffee is spectacular, and the staff is wonderful; friendly, funny, and welcoming!
Definitely a hidden gem in Cecil Count, don’t think...
Read moreSadly underwhelmed, especially for the premium prices. Tried a hot mocha breve and a caramel frappe. Drinks were fine, hot coffee was just warm. The bagel was a miss, (cinnamon bagel was essentially an English muffin shaped like a bagel w cinnamon on top), coffee cake muffin was good warmed at home after being missed on my request on warming it there. Two young workers today- I definitely don't mind waiting a good ten minutes in an empty cafe for my fancy drinks, no biggie, but I worried for the party that came in after me. One barista was still scrambling to finish getting my two pastries boxed up after my drinks finally came out, while the other barista pretended to cut dough and checked her phone when a large party entered instead of taking their orders. I wanted to give this new place a shot, but the little things added up and I'd rather head...
