What a hidden gem! The town itself was a quaint throwback in time. My wife and I were just “driving around” looking for interesting places and found ourselves in North East, Md. and then saw this quiet little place on the Main Street.
I liked it from the first time I walked in. Very home town authentic feel. And the simple dining room with rustic wood tables was filled with about a dozen diners (this was February) but they appeared to be locals, always a good sign. I was excited to try this place. We sat down and took a look at the menu. Lots of choices. I was definitely looking for “the Maryland Crab experience”. After asking for recommendations from our very helpful friendly waitress I chose two appetizers, the mini crabby balls, and the broiled bacon wrapped shrimp. To top it off I chose the cup of crab bisque. My wife ordered the Maryland crab cake sandwich.
We had fully intended to sit and dine in but my wife was not feeling well so we decided to get it to take out. We informed our waitress who was very understanding and suggested it would be about a 20 minute wait, as everything was prepared and cooked fresh. She said we could have the appetizers while we waited, which was a good idea. She graciously brought us glasses of water and 10 minutes later brought out the appetizers. Fresh and sizzling. The bacon wrapped shrimp was incredible, Half a dozen succulent golden brown shrimp wrapped in crispy bacon served with lemon and a variety of flavorful sauces. The mini crabby balls were fried well, served hot were very tasty and also served with a variety of sauces. By the time we finished the appetizers our main dishes were ready.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating for my wife’s situation which was very important to us, and definitely the first tasting experience will bring us back to try other dishes.
And…by the way when I got back home I took out the container of crab bisque and opened it up…OMG! It was by far the most flavorful and tasty crab bisque I’ve eaten in a while. Fresh and certainly home made. Every spoonful was a culinary delight. I can’t report, honestly on the crab sandwich so we will leave that for another time.
But, this place is just a short drive from Bear, De where we have family and we will definitely be back! Delightful!

Read moreA total waste of money. We ordered the bacon wrapped horseradish shrimp appetizer. No flavor whatsoever. How can shrimp, bacon and horseradish have no flavor? I don't know, but this place succeeded. We also ordered the combination platter which consisted of fried flounder, fried shrimp, fried oysters, a crab cake, fried zucchini and a twice baked potato. With the exception of the crab cake there was no flavor to any of it, but it certainly wasn't anything special. Do these people even know what salt is? I guess not. Seriously though, how do you make an oyster not taste like an oyster? We left over a half a plate of food. No to go box necessary. I very rarely write reviews, but I felt obligated to save everyone else from making the mistake we made. Go elsewhere if you want seafood. We won't be finding out if anything else on the menu is edible because we won't be returning. That...
Read moreThis restaurant is absolutely amazing! I had my wedding reception here and they were way more accommodating than I could have ever asked for. The communication was respectful and quick. The food was absolutely delicious and the prices were fantastic! They put everything together beautifully and handled my wedding jitters and nervousness like it was no problem at all. Myself and my family absolutely adore the Pier One staff and we couldn’t be more grateful for these amazing people. The restaurant is also family owned so it was great to support a family business. They decorated for us without me having to ask and even printed out custom menus specifically for my special day! I could type forever about how great my service was but all in all it was completely fantastic and I would recommend everyone go...
