If you're looking for a great place for dinner, or a catered dinner for a special event, Angelo’s should be the only place you look to. The overall amazing experience with Angelo’s starts with Michael Passalacqua. My wife and I needed a caterer for our wedding October 7, 2017. We taste tested several places and met the Catering Staff Manager. The experience at Angelo’s was different, because the owner himself, Michael, was our personal Catering Staff Manager. He personally made a commitment to meet with us. This alone made our experience different. He asked not only my wife and I to come taste test, but to also bring both of our parents. You could tell from the beginning Michael took his business extremely serious through his pride and enthusiasm. Michael provided us with wine, salads and several entrees and sides. We knew immediately with Michael we had already been leaning towards him, but then the food sealed the deal. The first thing we all loved was the salad dressing. He threw 5 different chickens, meatballs and pasta at us. After we had done our taste testing, Michael talked to us about their famous Gelato and wouldn’t let us leave until we all tried some, and by SOME, I mean 8 different flavors. Now I am a “meat and potatoes” kind of guy, so Gelato had always sounded a little “fru fru” to me. The Gelato is incredible. My personal favorite was the salted caramel, I could eat an entire jug of it myself.
We met with Michael 10 months prior to our wedding. He gave his personal cell phone number. The night we left the taste testing, we said “that's the one”. So I called Michael the very next day. Funny note, Michael took my call archery hunting in a tree stand, dedication! Michael remained in communication constantly and invited us back for a final taste testing. Again the same red carpet treatment. After much deliberation we decided the Chicken Picatta. We also ended up choosing instead of doing a wedding cake, we got his amazing Gelato. It's from a cart. A yellow, 4 wheeled, old school, street corner vendor cart with a built in cooling system. It was awesome and huge hit. The guests raved about what a great idea the Gelato is, and he even brings a gluten free kind to accommodate everyone. The only bad news was, my wife and I were so busy we never even made it over to get our Gelato, but that just means we need to make a trip down to Angelo’s for some.
I am a businessman myself, so I can appreciate transparency in negotiating discussions. What I liked about Michael was he was open and honest, of course there is a cost to this all, but you get what you pay for. The cost wasn’t any different from what we were quoted from any other caterer. In fact the additional benefits and services offered was incredible. What you don’t realize is what all is included when you deal with Angelo’s. He brings a huge staff. They are like ninja’s too. His wife actually personally took care of our sweetheart table where my wife and I sat. He works the event himself. Michael was in the mix, running out food, bussing tables, manning the Gelato cart, and overall seeing the entire operation. Now that’s cool, the owner sweating and grinding it out with the rest of his team.
Michael and his staff at Angelo’s are top notch, and did everything to make our day great. They have this down to a science. He knows precisely how much food, pasta, meatballs, sauce, coffee, cookie trays, plastic trays, etc. it will take. We did a family style meal, and we have some big boys in our families. They are fast and discreet, and out of the way. The pricing is extremely competitive, and the additional included services are unmatched. The pricing for extra services are very low and affordable. Angelo’s has a customer for life with us, and it will be our anniversary dinner date night for the rest of our lives. Thank you to Angelo’s, Michael, and entire staff for helping to make our day incredible and fill our bellies from...

Read moreTerribly managed, terrible food. Attempted to have a birthday party here and rented a room, they forced us to have a limited menu of their simplest dinners and told us we weren’t able to order appetizers (they reluctancy changed their minds when we asked in person the day of). An hour and a half after the appetizers we FINALLY had some meals brought in only for most of them to be cold. They mentioned if we wanted to bring our own b-day cake in they would charge $2 a person for everyone in the room. Absolutely the worst business practice I’ve ever seen from a restaurant, it felt like I was trying to host a nine year olds b-day party at Chuck E. Cheese and was being coaxed into upgrading to 3 topping pizzas for an additional $19.95. Like come on, at least give me some tokens and a show with my frozen lasagna. So after we had their gelato cake, which was pretty good (would’ve been better if it was all the way defrosted in time to cut). They brought the cake in with candles to be blown out and then they promptly took it away to cut it and plate it. Somehow they managed not to take a head count and not cut enough pieces for everyone. AVOID THIS PLACE. Go to the Olive Garden, you’ll save some cash, your food will be hot and probably better quality, AND you’ll get out of there in under 3 hours without being threatened with a $2 per person charge for bringing in some cupcakes.
UPDATE: after the response front the owner I am even more disappointed, it seems you’re getting some bias information (I wonder why) not only was everything I mentioned true but I can’t believe they try to say the cake disaster was anything but that, a disaster.. especially after I literally (without being noticed) stood near the gelato station and heard the manager and her helper talking about having to wait longer to cut the cake as the cake portion (the cake was half gelato and half cake so yes there is a middle ground between defrosting and melting) was too frozen to cut cleanly. to say the long wait was reasonable because we had some salads in the mean time? Come on.. Of course we didn’t mention cold food. We were ready to leave. They then mention that we should go to a restaurant where 30 people can be fed, anywhere from McDonald’s to Monterey bay can handle 30 people. For them to imply that number is too high for a full menu is all I need to hear. We will not miss this once decent establishment. Chalk it up to a bad night and move on if you’d like but don’t try and say because I didn’t ‘organize’ the thing that it wasn’t disappointing considering the price.
Hope things go better for this place in the future, not just in attempting to cover your butt on google reviews but with actual change and improvements in not only quality but...
