RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED ! This is Italian food on Lafayette road in a mini-plaza in No. Hampton, not fine dining in downtown Portsmouth. Sadly, this is my 3rd and final attempt with dining at Ronaldo’s since the new owners took over and then raised the prices. My sister and I ordered take out last night and we were so disappointed . We ordered chicken Parm, chicken picatta, a capresse salad, and a side of garlic bread. It was $ 99 before taxes , so $107 total ! I’ve never spent this much on a basic take out order ~ $50 per person yikes ! Insanely expensive for 2 people for take out and my chicken picatta was very bland … the chicken was so skimpy, there were about 6 very small slices of chicken. I don’t know how they can comfortably over charge for a meal that should have been $27-$30 at best … It was $39. $18.00 for a capresse salad, $6.50 for garlic bread, how is this okay ? We used to love coming to Ronaldo’s back in the day because the food was priced reasonably, it was delicious, and the dinner portions were plentiful ~ AND would come with 2 sides , and bread ! I really hope that you listen to your customers in these reviews and go back the traditions of the past, nestled into a great little hidden gem in a mini plaza in North Hampton. I hope you heed the advice of your patrons and make some changes because we would love to come back to Ronaldo’s again.

The place is cute but was empty when we got there at 12:45 on a Sunday; just one customer sitting at the bar. (we didn't know they weren't open yet)They asked for our drink order and brought our water, then bread, then finally menus. Bread was fresh and amazing! Food came too fast, amusingly served in frying pans. (not a bad thing). We ordered "lite" size and it was still more than I could finish. (also not a bad thing) My date's cheese ravioli (was indeed the other thing the owner mentions in his reply) definitely store bought. The breaded chicken on it was moist and yummy. Roasted tomatoes and spinach also tastey. My breaded chicken also delightfully cooked but their was something different than expected with the sauce. Could have been the canned capers. Mushrooms we of questionable freshness. No clue if the languini was fresh or a high quality boxed kind. Same with the tomatoes. (I liked it well enough to eat most of it, we were very very full) Pricing was too high. We were happy we had the Groupon.

Service was great and the food is good! Price to portion was good. I received a large bowl of pasta with my order of breaded veal with mushrooms and onions in a meat sauce. Fresh, hot 🍞 with olive oil was served. The tiramisu and coffee I had was good. Group seating and Wifi available. I even saw "Pass the baby!" with one family. Plenty of parking. Calling ahead is recommended. I recommend this restaurant. The last time I was here was over twenty years ago and not much has changed other than seating. Bathroom was in good shape. Update: Wednesday, July, 2020; Inside dining available. Reservations highly recommended. I had the Trilogy Parmigiana, breaded chicken, veal and eggplant in a meat sauce. I had tiramisu for dessert. Both were good. Free refills on my iced tea. No bread was served, but, I did get a bowl of Minestrone soup with my order.. Large portion for price. Friendly service, in fact, I was called "friend" by my server. Frank Sinatra played over the speakers. I had a good time!

UPDATED 10-11-2024 WE WENT IN ON 10-10-2024 We used to love this place it was a great place to go and as evident in my prior review I always loved them. The new owners need to step back and reevaluate the current situation. The food prices were ridiculous the portion was small and the quality was worse than a dredded Italian chain restaurant. Once inside we were freezing. We noticed many people eating with coats on that should have been our first clue to leave. After seated near the door we overheard a gentleman talking quietly to a member of the staff. He had professionalism that staff member did not she raised her voice and then the conversation became apparent he had paid for his meal but wanted to let her know he was not happy with any part of it. He was kind in offering her some friendly criticism. This guy seemed to have some experience and was being very kind. That is where we should have left for the second time but my daughter did not want us to appear rude. We had already ordered drinks. When the food came the portions were small a few items had little description and so there was a surprise on the table. However my daughters lasagna was ice cold and frozen in the middle. While I understand making items ahead it was not edible. We never saw service again the rest of our time. My daughter an angel said she would bring it home and heat it up to eat. We paid the 183.00 bill for 3 people with 1 drink each and 3 meals one appetizer. I hope that the staff sees this and hears the advice of the gentleman from last night. Some changes need to be made. A huge shout out to the amazing staff. Tonight after a long 12 hour day I had promised my children Chicken Broccoli Alfredo for dinner. Than my relief change was running late and with stores closing earlier due to Covid-19 it was looking like grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. On a whim I called and the great folks agreed to help make me feel like I was not disappointing or letting my kids down. They made the best Chicken Broccoli alfredo and salad with absolutely amazing dressing 2 loafs of fresh bread and they threw in 6 desserts. The food was super fresh the taste was spot on one of the best alfredo I had ever eaten. I am exhausted 6 days working into this week and thus food for the soul was exactly what I needed. If you are a family and looking to do something different then the usual take out look no further they make whole plans which leave you with leftovers to eat again. The price is great, the food is absolutely amazing and the service is...

My husband and I have been coming to Ronaldo’s for as long as we have been married (2002). We decided to stop in today for Mother’s Day as we needed to attend a wake just down the road. I have to say that this was the worst visit we have ever had. Our waitress was very nice and responsive to our needs but our food was cold (she offered to fix) and it was under seasoned. These things I could dismiss as it was a holiday. What I could not look past was the way one of the women, who was perhaps a manager or an owner, spoke to the other waitress on the floor near the kitchen in the middle of dinner service. I overheard the woman tell the waitress she had another table coming in that she was going to assign to her. The waitress politely noted that she thought the restaurant closed at 6 (it was now past 6) and that she had plans with her mother. The woman loudly and rudely responded that waitress would be fired. After I saw this waitress- a young woman who appeared to be a teen- wipe her eyes and fight back tears as she walked back onto the floor, cleared several tables, cleaned and reset the tables and continue to offer service to the party she was serving. From the bar, I could her the manager loudly complain to another employee about the waitress. When our waitress noticed the look of disgust on my face, she apologized profusely. As a long time customer, a mother and a human, I thought the behavior of the manager was disgraceful. Not only should the customers not be subjected to this sort of display, the way that she spoke to the waitress SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN in a place of business. I am utterly disappointed in our experience. When I addressed the issue with the restaurant via social media, I received this as a restaurant: “Hi Sara So sorry your disappointed. We strive to be the best, but it is so hard to get good help. Do you...
