Captain Jim's. I hadn't gone for over 5 years or so. Back then you had better service than today and a must different atmosphere. Today, since it was raining we decide to go local and Captain Jim's is a local staple. Fresh clean oysters, amazing fish, claws to die for. Food was amazing and on point. Kudos to the kitchen because you did it right. The service, now that is a major road block. We were 1 of 3 tables at the moment so it was not busy. Our server had more than enough time to provide some bit of customer service. We had to flag down for everything up to new appetizer plates, we had 3 appetizers. Were we supposed to use the same plates? My amazing yellow tail came out and I had no utensils. If an establishment offers bottle option instead of only glasses of wine, I would think since he had too much time on his hands he would pour the wine for us. No, but he was right there offering for another bottle which we did have. We are very much foodies. We go out, spend hard earned money. We cook at home but sometimes you just want to be served. When your paying a large bill you want service. Captain Jim's is not a low class place. It has been around for years and caters to the local hard working families. I'm very disappointed only for the service. I am a former server and have been in customer service for too long. You work your magic. You are competing against your customers kitchen so give your guests, customers your best. I do understand how service can be limited as this is not a busy place but come on. The kitchen, don't touch a thing. The staff is amazing.... Please do go to Captain Jim's. The food is amazing and this is Florida so don't be shocked at the...

Captain Jim's is certainly no longer the small seafood market with a few seats and modest menu that it used to be, but it's reinvented itself into a seafood restaurant serving fresh Florida-forward food with a Caribbean influence. They've done a great job with the renovation and created a formidable menu that can stand up to the best casual seafood restaurants in South Florida and the Keys. Their food embodies exactly what Florida seafood is all about. The fresh oysters were outstanding. The cracked conch was just phenomenal. I lived in the Bahamas for a period of time and have spent a lot of time there growing up and this cracked conch stands up to the best I've had and certainly are the best I've had in Florida. The lobster mac and cheese balls were excellent, we were pleasantly surprised. The fish is fresh off the boat and they offer mahi, grouper, hogfish, lobster, and shrimp, among others. I had the fried mahi sandwich which was lightly fried and bit less crispy that what I prefer but it was delicious. The service was attentive, friendly, and timely. The atmosphere has a uniquely Florida vibe and was spotless. They still have a small area with fresh seafood on ice for purchase. This is one of the few places left in South Florida serving fresh off-the-boat seafood in a casual atmosphere at a reasonable price. As a South Florida native, it's great to have a local seafood place that makes you feel like a local again and doesn't treat you like a tourist with tourist prices. Overall, a fantastic place for fresh seafood and I would enthusiastically...

So my wife and I were in Miami for the weekend and went to Captain Jim's for lunch. We entered and requested to sit 2 tables away from everybody else so we could have a private conversation when the main waitress screamed at both of us in front of about 15 customers - "you can't sit over there, everybody has to sit right here because I'm the only waitress". Mind you, this is the same lady who was smoking a cigarette and yelling on the phone out front when we pulled up. After she embarrassed us and yelled at us we sat at a wobbly table and tried to decide if we should leave or stay after she talked to us in this manner. We were about to spend $50-$75 on a good seafood lunch and this was our first time at this establishment. After discussing things with my wife, we decided to go somewhere where they valued us as customers. This place does not care about you as a customer or a person. We walked out and drove to Crab Brothers about 5 miles away and we got the best service, the best seafood and no attitude. As a customer who is about to spend money in a restaurant you have to ask yourself, is the person with the bad attitude cooking or bringing my food? No thanks! We don't want any part of that. Screw this restaurant and the lady with the bad attitude! To the little guy who tried to fix our wobbly table, it's not your fault bro, it's that mean old lady with the bad attitude. Y'all check out Crab Brothers for some real Seafood with and...

Insanely good... Capt. Jims is located at a strip mall that if you are driving semi fast you will not even realize its there... however, the food and the place is FANTASTIC! It used to be a fish market (with a small restaurant to the side) with open ice-filled racks with fish, caught fresh from local fishermen... You could actually get the employees to call you when your favorite fish came is fresh... The pandemic and the economy made them change their business model and they are now more of a restaurant than a fish market. They do have fish to sell but the restaurant portion of the place is now more important. They recently remodeled and the place is much brighter and lighter in color. Service is great and the menu choices are even better. During Stone Crab season, they have to be the absolute best place in Miami to eat claws. Fresh lobster, oysters, crab cakes, lobster Mac n' Cheese... fried calamari, shrimp, Yellow Tail (prepared in any way you want), etc, etc, etc.... If you are close by and are looking to have good seafood for decent price, do not hesitate to visit Captain Jim's!!! Oh, and I almost forgot.. their corkage fee is really good, so don't think twice about taking your own bottle.
