I paid a $118 tab for bar & birthday dinner & added 32% tip of $37 but I have to say I was told by the waitress that my 65 year old today self was denied being able to have the gin martini I had ordered pre-dinner & add the stout dark beer at dinner until I had drank all my martini. (By her manager she said telling her what a customer stranger first time to Clark's can order?????) Are we in the 1970's Dry Counties South??? Or are my Southern Baptist DEAD parents working at Clark's Little River SC? So, after ordering the most Magnificent Meal at unbelievable deal prices I asked "Well, can I get a taste of the stout to see for next time, please?" Waitress said sure & brought a nice few swigs taste, but just a sip & I'm puckering & knowing that is like something I already had tonight, another tiny sip & I realized the dirty tanquerey martini olive juice had been put in the stout by waitress &/or someone in the bar obviously from the just covering the bottom of cocktail drink glass free stout beer sample & part of that was salty green olive juice. I told a random waitress & sent it back. Mine never came back to the table in over 20 minutes after leaving the receipt with me & me already tipping her $25 in cash. I had also previously tipped the bar waitress $12 on a $33 tab for three drinks very favorably priced. So, birthday last minute decision dining alone & what happens seems ungrateful service people to me. People not in the best interest of the restaurant or themselves, but doing dirty olive juice to avoid selling at Clark's. I had first drinks in five years tonight, no buzz or drunkeness & a lot of food with many extras I chose for birthday leftovers, but the immature overlording of my ordering is especially not appreciated & frankly pretty creepy. I will avoid Clark's LITTLE RIVER SC in the future. I like a lot of value for my money & my parents are long...
Read moreWhen I made a reservation at Clark’s, I knew the bill was going to be slightly higher than a trip to McDonald’s. But I wanted to do something special for my wife's Valentine’s Day. And I can tell you that, for a $100 meal for two, "You get what you pay for" turned out to be a great experience.
We arrived at the opening hour of Clark’s and the place was already filling up. I am so glad I made reservations online through “Open Table”.
Appetizers started with the best she-crab soup I’ve had in years. The croissant that came with the soup was so fresh and light that we ordered a basket of them to go for the next day’s breakfast. My wife oysters Rockefeller was so good, she almost placed a second order. But the wise woman that she is, left room for what was about to arrive at our table.
For the main entree, I tried a couple of bites of my wife’s prime rib that was topped with lump crab, steamed asparagus, and bearnaise sauce. This was the first time I have had prime rib cooked properly – instead of gray and chewy, this meat was tender and pink and melted in my mouth. I had the “Hurricane Chicken” – grilled chicken breast, Carolina crab cake, grilled shrimp, creamy velouté, asparagus and Parmesan risotto. Again, everything cooked to perfection – well seasoned, tender, moist, and left no room for dessert.
Even though the restaurant had a lot of customers, our food arrived as we were ready for it. No rush. Plenty of time to savor each tasty morsel. So, I can’t say enough about the friendly attentive wait staff. With the romantic ambiance dialed up to 11, my wife and I had a very relaxing, enjoyable dinner.
And so, my wife and I will be returning to Clark’s after I have saved up a bit. Everyone and their tongues need to be pampered like this...
Read moreWent with my boyfriend on New Year’s Eve and literally haven’t stopped thinking of that meal ever since (it is now January 11th lol). I’m a native of the Little River area and have eaten at Clark’s many times, and it is always great. But on New Year’s Eve, it was probably the best meal I’ve ever eaten. I got the Hurricane Chicken, and my boyfriend got a Clark’s combo of fried flounder and boiled shrimp. My dish was 10/10, absolutely perfect. The chicken was cooked to the perfect temperature and was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It was on a bed of creamy, cheesy Parmesan risotto and 4 stalks of grilled asparagus. On top of the chicken, there was a crab cake and 2 pieces of shrimp. The crab cake was also perfect; crunchy outside and moist inside. Everything was seasoned perfectly, nowhere near bland and never too salty. With the success of my order I tried my boyfriend’s fish and was blown away at how crunchy and delicious the filet of flounder was WITH NO SAUCE AT ALL. They will give you tartar and cocktail sauces to eat the fish with but it literally doesn’t even need it. I have eaten tons of fried flounder in my lifetime, it’s my favorite. But I’ve never tasted it on that level. I still can’t believe it. On top of all that, the service was wonderful. Our waitress was very kind and always made sure our beverages were full. The restaurant was extremely busy that night and the hostesses honored the wait time they told us perfectly (which, of course, we don’t mind waiting). If I had the budget I’d make Clark’s a weekly stop. Thank...
