Wow. I’m trying to remember the last time I had this horrid of an experience at a restaurant or store. Story time.
Ordered through Uber Eats for the first time (MISTAKE), waited 1.5 hours, then at 9:30 pm when we were starving, they cancelled my order. ?! Still no idea why. I called Zhang’s, and they said I could come get my food. I show up, and one employee verified that UE had cancelled the order. Maria, the manager, then kept saying that they had to charge me what Uber charges. I said, can’t you just charge me the walk-in price? She kept saying, in English I could barely understand, and interrupting me left and right, “look at the menu, it’s the same price as Uber. It’s $12 a meal. Look at the menu.” I said, “I ordered two meals. If they’re $12 each, that doesn’t add up to $36, which is what you’re trying to charge me.” “Well, the orders from Uber, they’re online, and they charge more.” “But this isn’t an Uber order anymore! They cancelled it! So can’t you—“ “Look at the menu, they’re the same price. It’s the same.” Do you see how much sense this woman was making?
Then I tried talking to Josh, the waiter who had taken my call earlier, and who didn’t interrupt me (i.e., he had manners), and asking him if he could talk to Maria. She was demeaning and dismissive to him when he tried to help, interrupting him and waving her hands at him, saying “you can’t say anything. You not in this.” I tried one last time, saying, “look. Can you and I try to get on the same page here?” She nodded. I tried again to explain that I shouldn’t be charged Uber Eats prices when it was no longer an Uber Eats order, and she once again interrupted me mid-sentence, saying something about how “Uber, they charge more for the orders online.” I was so blasted frustrated and hangry that I yelled at her to stop interrupting and let me talk, and then she started waving her hands at me and saying “nope, nope, nope” or something. Then I finally did what I should have done ten minutes earlier: left.
I’m not proud at how I lost my temper. It was inappropriate; when I got home and, in tears, told my husband about it, he said, “it wasn’t worth that.” He’s right. But I’m appalled that someone so ignorant, rude, and horrible at customer service could be in charge anywhere. Maria had absolutely no interest in listening to me and making me feel heard; all she wanted was to be right, even though she was contradicting herself left and right, and to get my money. Needless to say, I won’t ever be eating at Zhang’s, I highly recommend that you don’t either, and I hope poor Josh can find a better boss to work for. Or that Zhang’s can either train Maria better, or get someone competent to manage...
Read moreOrdered through DoorDash said the order was not made at the Marriott location it was made at the North Ogden location. The web description mentioned that it had rice, shrimp, and an egg roll with the lo mein. It did not come with those items it was Chicken Lo Mein alone. When I called the restaurant to verify the order we realized their web description was incorrect the manager was very rude about it. I let her know on my side what I could see and what it was saying. She kept telling me that I wasn't correct and telling me what I ordered. I let her know on my end showed something different. She continued to be rude. At this time, I asked for the manager which she notified me. She was the manager. She said I would need to talk to the owners to get anything fixed on the website. I asked for the number for the owners. She said she didn't have one. I asked how I was supposed to get in touch with them. She said to call back at the end of the month when they would be back in town. Very rude woman. I would not recommend ordering through the app just in case it does end up in their kitchen. In my opinion, somebody who decides to speak to people like that probably shouldn’t be managing a restaurant or customer service is very important. I have worked in the food industry, and I would never treat Customer like the way she treated me. I will call back at the end of the month because I do want the owners to know what a crappy person they hired to run the restaurant when they aren’t there. I have always enjoyed their food. Never had a bad experience, but this is a good enough reason for me to not go there. Definitely going to the one in Marriott Slaterville or going out to South Ogden area...
Read moreThe worst experience I have endured with any establishment. My son and I were excited about having a picnic in his tent. We ordered 60$ worth of food.
I had door dash pick it up. Upon delivery there was no rice for either main dish. I called the restaurant and the employee explained that it was door dashes fault. As if every driver from door dash should pull out a menu from the million of places they pick up from and verify all contents are accounted for.
After 30 minutes on the phone, a whole lot of attitude; they agreed to comp one meal. I showed up to pick it up and with even more attitude and a hand in my face the female employee stated they would not put extra sauce ( even though I paid for it) as I was lucky to get more than rice.
The food is not worth dealing with the unprofessional staff. I have lived all over the U.S. and have served my country with honor for 20 years. I continue to serve and help people in the health care field as well. We all make mistakes, but If as a person or employee; you can’t own up to it and don’t care about what disaster you leave in your wake...sinking is inevitable.
Treat people like they matter. Thanks for ruining a single mother’s special night with her son. Terrible business. Truly...
