What is going on at the North Platte Cane’s? Cane’s Corporate, you need to get up there and fix this establishment because this staff is going to ruin the Cane’s name. I’d be mad over my entire experience if it wasn’t so incredibly comical. We entered the drive-through with two cars ahead of us when I noticed the car at the board was taking an unusual amount of time. It soon became apparent that the person taking orders was incompetent and in way over her head. She was incapable of taking a simple order. The customer had to restate their order multiple times and it was unclear if her order was being understood because the person taking orders took long pauses before responding. The same thing occurred with the vehicle in front of us. His order was simple. Box Combo, Sweet Tea. Unfortunately, the person taking orders once again took an inordinate amount of time to understand and acknowledge the order. When it was our turn at the board we encountered the same interaction. I had to repeat my order multiple times and it was unclear if the person taking orders understood. I had to ask if she received my order. Long Pause. I had to repeat my drink. Long Pause. Then I was told they were out of Cole Slaw and was asked what I would like to make up for the missing Cole Slaw. I asked if I could get an extra piece of chicken. The lady said yes. After a few more back and forths to confirm my order I told the lady I was pulling forward to the window. The lady said ok, but when I did so she started repeating my order over the speaker. The car behind me was already at the board so I couldn’t acknowledge. When I received my food I received three pieces of chicken in the main box and one piece in a separate box which I was charged extra for. When I expressed my displeasure over being shortchanged on my four piece and being charged extra the lady at the window became confused. Even after we showed her that there was only three pieces of chicken in the box. When I told her I should not have been charged for the chicken in the first place she stated that they could not give me the chicken for free. Number One, she already said she could. Number Two, I ordered a four piece and received a three piece and was charged an additional fee for the fourth piece of chicken. I could tell that my explanation and consternation were not getting through to the staff therefore I simply drove away. It was late and I realized that I did not want to stay in North Platte any longer so I drove away with my overcharged cold chicken, over-salted meager amount of fries, and undersized sweet tea. The bread looked like it had been gnawed on. Good thing they were out of Cole Slaw because I am certain they would have found a way to mess that up as well. So if you’re ever navigating the I-80 corridor in North Platte, Nebraska and think that some Canes Chicken sounds good, do yourself a favor and keep driving. Save yourself the time and...
Read moreWe love visiting Canes in Colorado, so we stopped by this one expecting the same food and service we receive there (multiple locations throughout Colorado that we frequent). Obviously our expectations were far too high! We pulled up to the drive through with 2 cars in front of us, we could hear from back there that the person taking orders was stalling and kept having long unexplained silences. It took about 10 minutes for us to get up to the speaker to order. (note: there were no other cars in front of the 2 that preceded us, no idea what was taking so long to input orders). We ordered "a box combo (4 chicken fingers) with a sweet tea please" long pause...no reply, "did you get that?" uhhh, we are out of coleslaw for the box combo. We said "thats OK, we didn't come here for coleslaw". Again, LONG pause, she finally said "okaaay, what do you want to replace the coleslaw with? You have to do something to replace it", so we asked "can we just have another piece of chicken?", silence, and then she says "yes, ok!" We pull up to the window. (I'm going to stop mentioning every long, unexplained pause where we were just ignored because it was happening constantly) She finally opens the window and says "box combo, no coleslaw?" No, we ordered a box combo, you said you're out of clowslaw and would give us an extra piece of chicken instead" she just said "uhhh...ok..." (if you can't give us an extra piece of chicken then why did you say yes?) So she takes our card, keeps it forever while, I guess going to get our food? Finally came back and gave us the card, and receipt. Which I checked and discovered she charged us $1.99 for an extra piece of chicken!? She never said there would be an extra charge, she said she would give it to us to replace the lack of clowslaw. Then she just looked at us and gave NO explanation, literally said nothing. So then we checked our box combo and there were only 3 pieces of chicken. So not only did they charge us for "extra" chicken, we didn't even get extra because they shorted us a piece in the box combo. In addition to all of that, there were very few fries and they were WAY...
Read moreI strive to shop and dine locally whenever possible. In this instance it wasn't worth my dollar. Usually specializing is a safe strategy for a business to nail a niche in the market, but my experience with Raising Cane's chicken fingers was underwhelming. I'll admit that the chicken was (mostly) juicy and tender, and it wasn't greasy. However, there was no flavor (not marinated?) and the breading was also flavorless. . . My experience has always been that the breading is the "signature." I overheard the operator tell the previous customer that "we don't carry barbecue sauce" that must be because the 'special sauce' here tastes just like Ranch dressing and barbecue sauce mixed together. . . Certainly not very impressive, taste or otherwise. Nothing special about the sides. I was glad to see a healthy apple juice box, from Honest Kids brand, for the kids meal. Considering the signs around the premises advertising that this company is on some Discovery+ show about saving local restaurants, I expected more than adding an attention-grabbing opening line at the drive-thru and switching...
