I very seldom leave bad reviews but I will never stay here again. We pulled into the parking lot at 8:44pm. When we arrived at the hotel, we were immediately met with a lobby full of loud children. We thought it was just a little excitement and would fizzle down. Boy were we wrong. We went upstairs, showered quickly and put on our bathing suits. We went downstairs to the pool and the pool and hottub were full of screaming children throwing each other. There were about 20 children in the hot tub and one kid picked another kid up, threw him, and he about landed on his head. For this hoard of children, there were 2 adults in the area who were not supervising. We finally asked the kids to make some room for us in the hot tub, which was apparently the cold tub. It not only was not warm, it was extremely murky. We did not stay long there and I made a complaint to the front desk about the kids being unsafe and unsupervised and the hottub being broken. We decided to hang out in our room (which was on the second floor). Before we even got to the elevators, we could hear kids running in the hall above us (the second floor hall). We got upstairs and all we could hear was screaming children. I called down to speak with a manager. I was told there wasn't one tonight. I gave my complaint to them all the same about the loud and unsupervised children. The entire building was full of unsupervised, chaotic, rambunctious children. We then went to the front desk, within the first hour of being there, and checked out at 9:38pm and asked for a refund. I was told I couldn't get one without a manager.
All the kids that were at this hotel were here for a sports event. We went to another hotel in town, which also is full of children from this same event. We walked in, instantly calmer. There were kids at this new hotel in the pool and spa but they were supervised and not being unsafe. And our hotel room here? Peaceful. It was not the children. It was not the event. It was the lack of accountability. The staff should have stepped in and spoken with the adults. I wont be surprised if a kid gets seriously injured at the Fairfield Inn tonight.
Anyways, now I have to wait 48 hours to see if their corporate will refund my room despite us not staying due to it not being what was advertised as a nice relaxing hotel with a hottub. I have stayed in hotels across the country and NEVER had such a horrible experience.
We initially booked with the Fairfield Inn on a recommendation from my sister who's friend stays at the Fairfield each time she visits from Omaha. My sister told her about our experience and let's just say the Fairfield Inn lost several customers this evening.
The room seemed like it might have been comfortable but we never even sat on the bed so I don't know. The shower curtain was an oddly short length though and barely...
Read moreI am a Marriott guy all the way. I know that an experience at one property will not be the exact same at another property, but I have come to enjoy the normally high standards that Marriott properties seem to constantly offer-regardless of the location. This week I stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in North Platte, Nebraska. I attempted an early check-in and the gal at the front desk told me they didn't have any rooms...she didn't even look up the rooms on her computer or radio to the cleaning crew. I asked her if she wouldn't mind looking it up in the system and low and behold there were multiple rooms for me and my traveling partners to check into. Had I not pushed the issue I would have been rejected. The room itself was okay. All the amenities without many frills but good enough. The pillow variety was lacking with all of the pillows being very large and rigid. I should compliment the tv operating system. It seemed to be a satellite system and it was a very good selection. I did really enjoy the TV.
My largest complaint (and I should clarify that I've never really lodged a complaint....at least I don't think I have) was that the walls were paper thin. I literally could hear every word of conversation and television in my neighboring room. I was in room 207 and could hear 205's every sound. I heard his calls, his in-room conversations, everything. The worst was that he snored. I heard his snores as though he was sleeping in my bed. I tried calling his room to wake him up and when that annoyed him I heard him call the front desk to disable calling into his room. It was so bad that I didn't get any sleep. On top of that there was a booming sound that happened every time the thermostat kicked in. I think I must have been next to an air conditioning unit or something very loud every 20 minutes or so. I am starting to wonder if I wasn't given a terrible room because I insisted that the front desk lady check for an early check-in.
I called the property when I made the reservation a few days earlier and asked if they have a pool. The operator stated that they did have a pool. I brought the old swim shorts and was ready to have a good swim only to find out that they do have a pool....that was under construction. This would have been nice to know when I asked. I don't stay in hotels without pools. I live in Denver and in the winter it is nice to have an indoor pool as an escape from...
Read morePlease find another Manager. Ortherwise this hotel will continue to degrade as you can see the bad reviews. A manager is supposed to respond to clients queries, answer phones & return back calls but this manager makes it very hard for people to see him or her. The entire time we were there,...we never saw the manager.
We tried & tried. Everytime it was excuses such as ( she's in a meeting,...or pls write your number she will call back & she never did. The entire one week it was same excuses,....eventually we left without ever meeting her. Wat type of a manager stays in meetings the whole day for 7 days?... thats unacceptable what type of manager will not see eye to eye with & will not even care to call back?? What is he or she scared of?? Scared of angry clients or wat?? We only wanted to find out about something but never got any help.
Please find another manager ortherwise this hotel will be too late too save it. Find one who has a heart for clients. One who has time to listen to clients,...one who follows up queries to make sure clients are been taking care of. Not one who hides away from clients in the name of meetings but never calls back....its such a shame. No wonder the hotel has bad reviews. Find another...
