First time eating here. Ordered take out. Let me say that I am a BBQ fanatic and I have to try them all when they pop up. I got home and everything I asked for was in the bag. Glad to see that I don't need to check my bag before I leave to make sure nothing was forgotten. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw. The sandwich was just 3 chunks of pork on a bun. I had to pull the pork myself which was a little disappointing. The coleslaw was very good but slightly "wetter" than I would like. I ordered a 1/2 lb of brisket just to try it. It was dry but that is the way I like it. There was literally almost no fat on the brisket which is also how I like it. My wife had pulled chicken, green beans and macaroni and cheese. She liked the chicken. The green beans seemed to be smoked which she didnt like. The macaroni she thinks they use smoked gouda in which also obviously made is taste smoky. She and I both feel the same. Only the meats should be smoked. People try to over do it with the "BBQ-Smoky" aspect and put everything in the smoker. Personally, just steam the beans with a little bit of bacon salt a nd pepper. No smoke. The Macaroni could just be a good macaroni without the smoke flavor. Different food needs to taste a little different. Not everything needs to taste like the smoker. We purchased the 2 rib meal with fries for my daughter. The rib portion was quite large, it was actually a 3 rib, but it was almost all fat and very little meat. My daughter ended up eating some of my brisket with her fries and we threw the ribs away. I tried to pick some of the meat out of the ribs for myself but it wasn't worth the time. I would for sure go back and try something else. Probably just get a brisket sandwich next time. My wife said shed get the chicken again but would probably order different sides than she did this time around. My Daughter says chicken tenders and fries next time. I think the potential is there for this to be a great lil BBQ place. A bit more attention to detail and a few bugs to work out. Also the seating arrangement when I walked in to pick up my food was weird. At first when I walked up I thought there was supposed to be a second entrance because there was a man sitting right in front of the door eating which I thought was weird. He was literally blocking the entrance. I opened the door and then could see the reason why he was right in front of the door. The place is VERY small and it's galley type seating. One row of tables and chairs down the left side as you walk in. Not the best "eat in" setup. This BBQ shop wont be my go to but it was a decent first experience. I've had way worse. hopefully they can use our reviews constructively and make the little changes necessary to up their game a...
Read moreThis place was good when it was small, but since it has expanded, it is horrible. I sat at the table it was sticky and so was the menu. My drink took over 10 minutes. It was weak and watered down. When the food came, it was not hot or tasty. Just doesn’t have that smoky barbecue flavor anymore. The portions are also smaller. The meals are expensive for what they are. Even the walls were dirty like kids smeared food and it didn’t get cleaned. Also I noticed dirty dishes piled up right behind where I sat, which is very unprofessional. I noticed because they smell gross while you are trying to eat. The owner is not friendly at all. He just looks at you when you walk in or out does not even say hi. How did this place change so much???. If you don’t want to be disappointed, then don’t go here to eat. Sorry, but you all need to be like you were before when you were small. And yes I’ve been back 4 or 5 times and gave it several chances thinking it was just an off day but it seems like because you are bigger now you just don’t care about anything except money. Didn’t want to post a review until I had several bad dining experiences. So sad but I won’t be back again now and I will be sure to spread the word.
To the owners poor excuse for a response:
My drink was watered down because the ice melted from sitting 10 mins. Your customers should NOT have to do your job checking the cleanliness of your restaurant and reporting back to you. It’s actually not easy for a customer to approach management or write a review. I wanted to after the first bad experience but I just was hoping it was an off day or 2. You should be walking around once in awhile noticing this and asking customers how everything is. You should be addressing issues instead of belittling customer reviews. Take accountability for the condition of your restaurant. Keeping dirty dishes directly behind customer seating is a big NO. Seating customers at a dirty table is a big NO. Noticeably dirty walls at dining tables is a big NO. Remember, customers don’t mind paying extra money if it was a great dining experience. As far as craving your attention, not the case at all, You are often sitting in the first booth near the door (not looking stressed) when customers come in or leave and you could at least say “hi” or “thank you for coming, how was everything ? “ instead of going on TikTok.
