Bob's Shrimp — Restaurant in North Township

This is an update to my previous review. Went back after 10 months when the jumbo shrimp were excellent. Well guess what. Once again jumbo shrimp are now the size of large shrimp; and charging jumbo shrimp pricing. They are once again deceiving their customers, I heard Bob is no longer the owner. Whoever the owner is he should be ashamed of himself. And the relatively new customers may not be aware of how large the jumbo shrimp use to be. And the large shrimp are still excellent. But by no means are the size of the old jumbos they served for years. So shame on the new owner. The people who have been coming here for many years know the difference. . You are not fooling us. Also the variety of food on the menu has shrunk. At one time they offered, walleye when in season, smelt when in season, scallops, and even white fish and orange roughy. So to Bob's owner, either get real jumbos, or stop charging people for jumbos when you are actually serving large.

10 months earlier: I have been ordering the Jumbo Shrimp at Bobs for 30 years. Up until a couple of years ago they were very big and excellent. Over the last couple years before Covid the jumbos have continually been shrinking. Today, I went back for the first time in almost 3 years. The place was remodeled and clean. The Jumbo shrimp were excellent. They got their mojo back again. They were perfect....

They used the SAME GLOVES when making your food and to take your money and put it in the bag!!! The place was disgusting in the back with flour and juices from fish and shrimp all over the place! BOARD OF HEALTH SURE NEEDS TO PAY A VISIT! THE SHRIMP ORDER WAS $90! I asked if you could just separate one pound in half for my dad and they said they will have to charge me double!!! Why when I had to pay $20+ per pound for jumbo shrimp that was LARGE SHRIMO! DIGUSTING THAT THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH! WHY BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO PAY TAXES?!!! REGARDLESS ALL THAT MONEY I SURE DON'T WANT COVID-19 FROM THE HANDLING OF NASTY MONEY AND MAKING THE FOOD WITH THE SAME GLOVES ON TO PREPARE YOUR ORDER RIGHT AFTER TOUCHING NASTY MONEY! VERY ODD THE ONLYYYYYYY ACCEPT STRICTLY CASH MONEY NOTHING ELSE! I USED THE SHRIMP FOR BAIT BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY AFTER I APPROACHED THEM HOW NON SANITARY AND LOW AS YOU CAN GO TO DO THAT DURING COVID-19 TIMES! SIGN SAYS PHONE THE ORDER IN AND THERE WAS 30+ PEOPLE INSIDE WAITING FOR THEIR ORDER CRAMED INSIDE AND COULD BARELY MOVE SHOULDER TO SHOULDER!!! WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY AND LOW AS YOU CAN GO TO HAVE SUCH A DIRTY AND APPALLING KITCHEN the ocean perch have black specs along with their shrimp! I am a chef those are parasites! CAUTION!!! DO NOT SPEND ONE RED CENT WITH THE BUSINESS. IT'LL BE A WASTE OF MONEY AND UNEDITABLE FOOD. The worst experience ever!!!! My food lacked seasoning and tasted blandish. They were stingy with battering and cooked my food super soft. To top it off my fish had that half cooked, half raw ocean taste. I knew complaining and asking for a refund was out of the question. This business seems money hungry period...forget customer service. What a waste of $26 and some change. I would've done better going next door for a catfish fillet dinner and medium shrimp dinner. Next time I'll gladly make the drive to Simply Shrimp. The food is waaaay delicious and service is better. Plus they have a wider menu selection.
