La Fogata Taquería — Restaurant in North Township

I have been there 3 times. All three times I have had a bad to nasty experience. The first two times, the food was cold. Interesting that on both occasions the rice and beans were freezing cold, especially when the food took forever to arrive. I informed the Manager/ Guy who is the Cashier and he was like "ok" . not overly concerned by my complaint. This last time and final stop I will ever make to that restaurant, was the worse.!. The restaurant was not busy. We ordered our food at 6:30 pm. It was already 7 o'clock and our enchiladas and fluatas had not arrived. The waitress was rude and said the "Kitchen had lots of tickets". At a out 7:15 our food finally arrived and I told her I wanted to put an order to go now since our food took forever! She very nastily replied, "Oh the torta will take about an hour they are really backed up" in a rather snarky way!

When my husband went to complain about the wait and the horrible waitress, to this young guy who again didn't seemed bothered, I cut open my enchiladas, they were steak! I ordered CHICKEN. The waitress came by and I told her, she didn't' say a darn thing and took back both plates! Again I went back to the counter to tell them about the chicken. He again didn't seemed bothered that we waited more than an hour for an uncomplicated dish and the order was wrong! Please don't waste your time here! The food is bad and the service...

I went there for the buffet but decided against it once I saw what they had. when I walked in, I stood looking for someone to seat me but no one did. I finally asked if I can seat myself and was told yes. I ordered the steak taco dinner. The food was just okay. The prices were just okay too. The waitress was nice but very slow and I waited forever for a box. When she brought the box, you would think that she would also bring my check but she didn't. I waited so long that I finally went to the register to cash out. I left a smaller tip than what I would have if she paid more attention to her customers. Also, I think it's a shame that they serve you with can pops. I don't think I will be going back. The place don't seem like it's English friendly. The menu on the wall is hard to read if you don't know Spanish and there is a language barrier with some of the staff. I think I would have enjoyed the food at Pepe's better. I'll start by saying they do some things very well, the table salsa is very nice with a good kick and their barbacoa tacos are excellent. I've been here twice and the first time i thought it was just ok but my most recent visit was a bit of a disaster. About 1/3 of the chips they gave us were soaked in oil, soggy and chewy. My wife ordered one barbacoa, one shrimp and one fish taco, both the shrimp and the fish were breaded and cold. I don't know if they were left over from earlier but they were at least cooked through. I had steak tacos that were tasty but underfilled. They served us water in styrofoam cups which if they were busier I would have understood. The decor is almost right but the lighting seems a bit off. I think this could be a great place if they stuck to the things they did well and made some minor tweeks. I won't be returning unless they change management and or practices. I can't recommend it when there is such a wealth of good Mexican food...
