I wish I could give JJ Fish & Chicken in Hammond, Indiana, zero stars. Our experience there was absolutely horrendous from start to finish. First, the fish they served us was clearly oldâslimy, smelly, and completely unappetizing. It was disgusting and unsafe to eat. As if that wasnât bad enough, the fried chicken we ordered was raw in the middle. Yes, raw. Not undercookedâraw. It was as though they didnât even bother to check if it was properly cooked before sending it out.
When we called to bring up these serious issues, we were met with a nasty attitude from the staff. There wasnât a hint of remorse or customer service. Instead of offering a refund or making us fresh food, they suggested we bring the disgusting food back so they could refry it. Refry raw chicken and slimy fish? Are you kidding me? The lack of accountability and basic decency was appalling.
We couldnât risk eating any of it, and in the end, we had to throw the entire order in the trash. It was a complete waste of money. The combination of bad food, poor hygiene, and terrible customer service made this one of the worst dining experiences weâve ever had. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costsâyou deserve better than old, unsafe food and a staff that clearly doesnât care about...
Read moreI called my lady who informed me that she wanted some J.J.'s. I tell her to order and I'll pick up on my way home from work. She orders and it told 15 minutes. So I get there a few minutes early and wait for a few minutes before going in. I then go in and pay and they tell me it's gonna be a 15 minute wait. I tell her it was a call in and they tell me that don't drop it until we come in. So what's the point of calling in and being told 15 minutes with a ticket number? Very unprofessional. So instead of just paying and picking up food, I have to know wait for food that was supposed to be ready when I got there. I just don't get it. The come to neighborhoods and we patronize them. Service starts great until a few years into business and then they slack off on customer service. They lie to us and make us wait for food that should have been ready. I'll stick to Sharks. I would never recommend this location to anyone. What people need to do is stop patronizing this business and get some honest people who don't mislead customers. Too many other fish and chicken places to give...
Read moreI went here because I was driving towards Chicago and got hungry. My 6 piece wing dinner was cooked fresh to-order with enough hot sauce for my liking. It was also only $8.55 in total, which isn't bad considering that it was really good. Also only took about 10 to 12 minutes to cook, which is pretty reasonable for fresh chicken (I've eaten at similar places and that's typically on the lower end for wait time). Also, the food was so hot that it fogged up the windshield of the car- visual proof that it's hot and fresh! However, the sauce was the cherry on top: I opted for the hot sauce, which is like your typical hot sauce at Harold's (it tastes like Buffalo sauce). Of course, you always want more of a good thing, and they were generous enough with the sauce to satisfy my lofty expectations. All in all, it was well worth the 15 minutes that it cost me (including getting on and off the expressway, waiting at traffic lights, and parking in addition to ordering). I would stop by again if I get hungry while driving between...
