Our stay began with a 3pm check in. At check in we were asked if we minded being on the 2nd floor. We agreed that would be ok. The room that we were given was room 212. It was directly next and behind the elevator. Upon entering we noticed that the bed was quite a bit smaller than a king. We returned to the front desk to ask about the room and the bed being smaller. The young lady at the desk explained to us that our room had been given to someone else related to the hotel overbooking. We were also told that this was something that was placed in the computer by an employee (to substitute our king bed to a queen bed) and that this was done that morning and there was nothing that could be done. We asked the desk person why our room was exchanged for another and why she charged us for the King size room knowing that we had received a smaller bed. Her response to this was that she didn't make the change and was there something that we could suggest to fix this. My wife spoke up and asked for the King size bed that we had reserved. The desk person assured us that all the rooms were filled. She contacted someone by phone and negotiated giving us 20% off the room. After finding out that not only was this hotel was sold out but so were the 2 adjacent Marriott hotels. We begrudgingly took the room and hurried not to be late for our anniversary dinner. Upon arrival back to the hotel later that evening, we were greeted with no parking in the lot or any of the other lots around the area. Our parking lot had a bus that had taken 8-10 spaces by parking laterally. The front desk night person allowed us to park in the one of the handicapped spots and said that she would notify security, which she did. Room 212 should never be sold to anyone without them knowing about the noise created by the elevator motion from floor to floor as well as the elevator doors opening and closing. After a restless night, we decided to discuss this experience with a person who appeared to management when we were checking out. We asked what could be done in the future to avoid this situation. She stated that one of the problems that the hotel had is that they couldn't call me because a telephone # was not on file. I asked" Were you going to contact me while I was driving to tell me that my room was given away?" Her answer to this was yes. We left at that point very tired and frustrated. How can I be assured that if we decide to book at a Marriott in the future that this won't...
Read moreFirst, I start out saying that when we stay at hotels, we are just there to shower, sleep and get ready for the next day. I will now say that this hotel needs to be renovated and it is outdate in my opinion. I did hear on the way out that there are plans to renovate some time next year starting with the fourth floor. So this is a recommendations and possible ideas to take into consideration when they start to renovate. We were in room 412 so can only go with what we observed. The bath tub, when showering seemed like the floor beneath it was rotten or not there and we were just standing in the tub. Felt like we would fall through if we weighed more. Not enough outlets. Two, visible, on the walls, on four outlet on the small desk they had. Need to put in lights that you can plug a USB or plug in a device. Curtains need to be washed, need to purchase a refrigerator that you can visibly see it on or can control the temp. We didn't know if it was on or not. Better lighting in the bathroom, that needs to be as bright as it can be since women like to see what they are doing while drying their hair or putting on make up. Have maybe a dimmer switch if worried about the brightness. Have a small shelf in the bathroom, maybe above the toilet paper so that you can put your phone, or glasses when taking a shower. Face it, everyone takes their phone into the bathroom now days and so instead of putting it on the toilet tank, a shelf would be better. Possibly put a soap dispenser in stead of having the little soap bars. Need a new floor in the elevator, something more durable. Put durable flooring in the rooms vice carpet, carpet smells no matter how many times you wash it and a durable floor would be easier to clean. The whole breakfast are needs a total renovation. Get rid of the carpet, due to stains, and spills, easier to keep clean and looking good. Positives: nice hot water, noise from outside very heard, staff very friendly and seemed concerned with what you have to say. In my overall opinion, the hotel is there for individuals that work around the area and can't get back home for a while, for a family staying a few days, I would recommend it but know that those workers do not care about the room and just want a place to sleep until they go home and then have...
Read moreI've stayed at different Fairfield locations before, but this was by far the worst. After driving almost 4 hours, everything was fine until we walked into our room and was overwhelmed by the stench of mildew and some serious humidity. I immediately called downstairs to ask if there was another room available because my guest and I have both have severe allergies. The attendent "Crystal" says "Yea, I heard it was pretty bad up there" (so she knew it was bad when we checked in but failed to mention this) she offers a dehumidifier and the option to check another one on the first floor but says "it probably won't be any better, because there's a large pond behind the hotel this could be causing the problem". We inspect the room on the first floor and the smell was worse. After going back to the front desk a third time, she says she can spray and bring the dehumidifier, in the midst of this I ask for the corporate number or managers number, looking surprised, she states she would bring it up to us when she comes to spray and brings the dehumidfier. We ask if any of the sister hotels nearby, have additional rooms available to which she says no, and even if they did, my card had already been charged. We were only offered "snacks" as apparently this was suppose to ease the stench in our room and to keep my allergies from flaring up. Crystal came and sprayed 20 minutes later, and did not bring corporate number but says this time "call the desk and they will give it to you" she then stated she could not find the humidifier (then why offer it??!?!). After spraying a heavy duty brand of Febreeze on the carpet, almost 15 minutes later my roommate and I were both sneezing and coughing; we tried turning the air off but this didn't help at all. While this may seem trivial to some however it was not. It was a hot mess, and thank God it was only...
