The first thing I want to say is the guy at the desk was the epitome of customer service. Very cordial and patient. The food was good, but that's not why the 3 stars. I mean, the chili cheese dogs were eaten by the people that ordered them without complaint. Also, the fries were hot and fresh, but just crinkly with not much flavor. The problem comes with the 2 polishes I ordered. I'm a Chicago guy living here for the last decade and I'm still not familiar with all the places around me. I'd had the Roast Beef at Zel's before and it ain't nothing compared to a Chi-Town Italian Beef! That brings me to the problem with the polishes. I asked if I could have them Chicago-Style and Maxwell Street, which other local places like Saul's in East Chicago does very well. In hammond, indiana. The staff has been there forever atleast most of them and every year when I go they remember me and almost my order correctly. Good fun & friendly staff and really good Food. They have Pepsi cups everywhere. When she asked me what I wanted to drink and I said Pepsi, she said. "All we have is Coke." She never asked if it was here or to go. And we were eating there. Hand me my drinks in a paper bag and our food in another bag. Like I said, it was just not very friendly at all. I can see why they're closing. And it's sad because I love Zel's. The one in Crown Point we love. We stopped at the one in Hammond because we were coming back from the doctors appointment in chicago. But we won't be returning,...
