Even though I have lived out of state for more than 10 years, I am a native of Wilkes. 6th & Main has always been the classiest place in town for fine dining and atmosphere. So when my daughterâs boyfriend reached out for help with proposing to my daughter on Valentines Day, I immediately knew this would be the perfect location to pop the big question! It was semi last minute planning so I contacted the restaurant to see if they could squeeze them in for Valentineâs Day dinner and the proposal! Heather, the owner got back with me immediately and helped me plan out every detail. She offered to have them come in an hour before the restaurant opened so they could be alone in their very special moment! We also had flowers delivered to the restaurant beforehand and Heather once again, stepped up to make sure they were delivered on time and brought out to my daughter at just the right time.đ Even though I couldnât be there, Heather kept me in the loop in real time which meant the world to me! She sent me pictures and even helped my (very nervous) future son in law, pull off the big surprise! My daughter called afterwards to tell me she was of course engaged and how beautifully everything had gone! (Mission accomplished!) She also couldnât believe how accommodating and kind Heather had been to them. Sadly, this kind of service and people are becoming harder to come by so I share with others when I find wonderful people and services. Their meal + service were excellent! 10 out of 10 across the board! Thank you Heather and the 6th & Main staff for helping us pull off a very special event for our daughter and son...
Read moreI was told this place was fine dinning but it fell very short of expectations tonight. The waiter wore shorts, but was pleasant. The oysters I could have gotten at any restaurant. The homemade balsamic dressing was the texture of pudding! I ordered grilled chicken with butternut squash ravioli. The ravioli was rubber as if it had been frozen although the waiter said it was fresh. The butternut filling tasted more like pumpkin pie. My husbandâs steak was ok, but very grisly, not a good cut of meat. The waiter was gracious enough to offer to replace my meal. When I declined, he did take my meal off the bill. At the end of the meal we paid $60 for a steak, house salads, 6 oysters & 2 glasses of wine, that amounted to mediocre at best. Sorry 6th and Main, you seemed to be loosing your fine...
Read moreNot our first trip here. Atmosphere was wonderful. Our party of 6 arrived at 6 on Friday evening seated upstairs in a private room. After reviewing the wine list we were informed that 3 of the wines requested were not available but still on the list. Our party discussed the food menu and the specials. Sorry to say a few of the items were already unavailable. Canât understand why the special and other offerings were sold out at 6. 5 of six servings were good. The scallop special( last one available) was overly salted. Explained to waitress and she thought we were kidding. The bills were incorrect and lacking in overall information. (they did try to fix but still the bills were inaccurate) Sad this happened. Might give another try. But sure hope they...
