I went to Shangos on Monday evening after being referred by a friend. I like to support local businesses and was excited to try the food. When I arrived, there was a young boy definitely not of working age working in the front register. I asked to speak with someone because I have food intolerances and wanted to make sure that I communicated this. The young man was the only person working with customers. I explained to him that I could not have dairy and asked what I needed to do. He asked me if it was an allergy and I told him no it was an intolerance. I am dealing with a health condition and dairy causes inflammation. He showed me where to indicate this on the screen and also show me where I could indicate no cheese. I received my tacos and there was an avocado ranch sauce on one of them. I left, assuming that it was not dairy because I indicated that I had a dairy intolerance and explained it to the child at the counter. I had a bite and it tasted like dairy so I called the restaurant and the owner, Steve answered. I explained to him that I had indicated that I had a dairy intolerance and he informed me that the sauce did have dairy. To me, this was a simple fix they could just remake my taco without the sauce or refund the money. Steve said he would do neither of those things because I should have told someone that I couldn’t have dairy. I explained to him multiple times that I told this to the young man at the counter, as well as indicated on the screen that I had a dairy intolerance. He told me that a dairy intolerance could mean that I just don’t like it. He then said he would resolve the issue by changing his screen, and I explained to him that that did not resolve my issue He told me multiple times that they would not remake my Taco or refund it because it was my responsibility to ensure that they knew. I told him that this was really unfortunate because I was referred by a friend and though the food is good, I will never come back to a place that does not value it customers. He refused to make things right and accept any responsibility. I was not upset about the couple of dollars lost on a taco but more so about the complete lack of customer service. Read moreLong review. My daughter works in the area and loves Shango’s so off me and my love go. We do the order/pay at the table where your SUPPOSE to receive an alert to pick your food up. We ordered 3 tacos, jerk quesadilla, 2 lemonades +7tip =$46.75 at 4:17pm. 4:47 ok it is busy. 5:05! Time to go. We go to Shangos counter, change that to-go. He ask for my name looks at the monitor look at me walks to the warmer and proceeds to box it up. I say so it’s been sitting there all this time? The 1st thing he says is “Its not my fault” it’s the system let me show you and shows me the hand held. Sir IDC. You can see that the order is dine in. I just tipped for bad service. After 10-25 minutes of the tray not being picked up shouldn’t the system resend an alert? The handheld showed several orders highlighted like mine in red. There were at least 4 orders in the warmer with ours.

They suggested I go with fried chicken. At this point I went with it. It was a take out order and it was on a tray. They said it was ordered for dine in. I was picking it up for someone else so I just asked for a box. They gave me a small box. I asked for a larger box because I couldn’t separate the tacos. They refused to give me the larger box. I found out later chips and queso, were also ordered, $11.00. They received 3 chips and no queso. ( I thought the chips were just something they put on the trays) Also the person who was handing out the trays, kept wiping his nose with his hands and never washed them.
