This is a story that EVERYONE needs to hear before signing contracts with Simms. Back in June of 2017 I signed a 8 month contract to pay off a furniture set. Of course, upon approval, they checked my credit. I agreed to that. They also added the balance to my credit report (all 3 agencies), makes perfect sense. I got probably 12 calls leading up to the 2 months before it was paid off. Probably 1 brochure through the mail a week telling me I was approved for another 2500. So I went in and, like usual, the sales people were hounding me, trying to get me to buy something else since I was already approved. So I found a bed. Got me in and out in about 10 minutes, max. He told me a new account wouldn't be opened, the new balance would just be added to the old one. Checked my credit report today. Dropped 25 points! They added a new account, didn't close the old one -- although paid off -- and did another credit check. At no time did they say a new credit check would be done. In fact, he said I was already approved so it's easy as 1-2-3. Let me repeat this. At no time did I give them permission to use my social security to run another credit check. They also did not group the two accounts, but created a new one, thus, dropping my credit score 25 points. So I called the Convington location. Whomever I spoke with on the phone pretty much told me "tough", that he was in the business for many years, and my concern on this was pedestrian He claims there's a sign somewhere in the store. He did not say he would talk to his employees about this. He said "sorry", then added, "what do you want me to do about this?" I'm going to have to fight this with all 3 credit agencies, since it's illegal to run someones credit without their permission. This story is important for anyone who monitors their credit closely, relies on a high score, or anyone looking to rebuild their credit. Sims is not the place to go. Now I'm locked in for another year, 2K+ bed, 2 accounts opened, and a credit inquiry.... and their response... "what do you want me to do about it...." STAY...
Read moreWent in May 28th and we had such outstanding, friendly, pressure-free assistance from EJ that we came back and got a living room set on the 31st. I work in IT as a contract-based developer & designer and my bf runs his own business; despite our being self employed they were still able to approve us. I'd definitely return here in the future.
Update: Just wanted to update everyone and say that our furniture was delivered on time and in great condition too! Another plus +++ for this store, they also called us early in the morning on the day of delivery to let us know that they needed to push back the delivery time a little bit, so we wouldn't be left waiting in case we had made other plans or needed to notify our employers; which was very considerate of them. The change in time was no biggie since they let us know over 8 hours in advance. The delivery guys were great too--Friendly, careful, quick, respectful and just all-around pleasant to deal with. The pieces appear to be in great condition (I haven't noticed anything indicating that any of the pieces were damaged during transport, so yay!) In all, I just wanted to share my positive experience with this place since I'm new to the area from out-of-state and was nervous about who to trust....
Read moreI have to jump in and firstly say I am sorry for the people that had a bad experience. I am surprised whatever issue happened; that is wasn't take care of right then and there. Knock on wood i have had no problem from simms and i purchased my bed, dresser, recliner etc. On the down side. I am disabled and I am going to buy a love sear or love seat and davenport from them, ; however, i need to have them remove the other items and put them on the street for me. I was told no they could not do that. In my case if they want me to continue my business with them, they are going to have to take the recliner and other chair and sit it on the curb. The other issue, is, they charge 100.00 for delivery and i was in transportation for 16 years and feel they need to adjust the customers delivery. That is not common practice in the trucking business, so, i do have issue's with that however, i discovered these are people that are sub contracted out. So bottom line, I would by from Simms again, i have always been treated kindly, in the store and on the phone if i had a question. So there, you have it. My real name is GARY D. If the main stores see's this review, all they have to do it look it up and they will...
